Can the gearbox be removed without removing the engine? I have a 3/4th gear synchro issue.
Yes, and it is a good time to check everything else, like the clutch plate, bearings, fluid leaks, especially if it is an F1. If a shop does it, probably cost about $7K, maybe more. Good luck.
I live in the San Diego area. Just for grins, I called Ferrari of San Diego they don't want to do it because they don't have the tools. I'll have the gearbox removed here at Eli Vegdersons and shipped to Carl Ryalls at Scuderia Transmission service in the bay area. He says a 1 day turn around. I'll post my experience when finished. Most likely after the first of the year. He also confirms the gearbox can be easily removed. He says it takes him 45 minutes to remove after the rear bumper is off.
