The Rally is a social event designed to bring members together from all over Australia, it's not about dropping in for a couple of events and then pissing off. And in terms of "getting some money from me" this implies that your attendance is some kind of a financial benefit for the club - it's not. The rally entry is heavily subsidised, so what you pay to attend is much less than what it costs to put on the event, and the event is run by volunteers, who put in a heap of time to make it all happen.
I can understand and agree with Steve’s point of view. Some of us have time constraints due to work, or have busy personal lives. Others like myself think fancy dress nights are for loosers. If it was in Sydney, I’d like to think I could take the day off and come out to say the Concorso or track day. There are likely many more members that are of the same mindset
Spot on. As I said in my first post on this topic, a lot of people would be unable to dedicate that much time to this event, but would like to participate in some way. Obviously the club doesn’t want those people. That’s fine.
As I said earlier,YOU CAN IT'S JUST NOT COST EFFECTIVE,hence the event being cost effective if you do the whole thing. There's nothing stopping you doing what you choose and paying for that only, just don't whinge at the relative cost. .....or you can pay for the whole lot and just do what you want,I suspect you'd have to tell the event committee what activities you are going to do.
I’ve been to plenty back when I could be bothered, just not with wankers from the FCA Image Unavailable, Please Login
Think of what you have written for moment? I'd suggest 100 plus Ferrari cars running around a city would be noticed by the general community ! I was asked by a non FCA member whom had interested in joining the FCA/AFR and entering the event , I'll tell him to read the general newspapers or watch SKY news..
Yes, but they won't be noticed 10 months in advance! Tell your shy friend to stick a crow bar in his wallet and join the FCA!
No but I have owned one and know a lot of people with 'em .........would you like me to tell you how many people in the BDC which I am the secretary whom own Ferrari cars as well ,many who are not members of the FCA including the owner of this..............so go post your BS reply elsewhere .......... Mike how many Ferrari cars in Australia approx? How many members of the FCA.........that answers your last comment .. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is that right? I always thought it was an all-or-nothing approach. ie. you had to pay for the whole thing, regardless of what you could or couldn't attend. If what you say is true, then great. That's what I've asked for. And of course I'd accept that it's not as "cheap" as doing everything. I'd be happy to wear a relatively high cost to only do the things I can / want to do.
I know most people are time poor these days, but if you are making the effort to travel from SA to QLD for an event like this, surely you can make the most of it seeing as you have come a long way for the event. And I think the FCA helps towards travel/transport costs of the Ferrari from memory. Every year I take a look at the annual Rally email/package, I think it's priced alright for what it is. I too am time poor with young kids, but I would and can take the time off to make this event one day without a problem. I have heard many great things about these Rally's, everyone really enjoys them and I reckon I would also. Even if you only do it once mate, make the most of it and enjoy.
Plenty of FCA members in the BDC, any one of whom would be better placed to answer a question about the national rally in a club you've never been a member of. Hence I call BS "asking for a friend".
I give up, you were not part of the conversation ,NFI how many people were in the room .......which was myself and one other !
Yep that's what I don't get, given that it's quite a way off shirley you'd make your way around, time wise, to do the whole thing.
Yep 100%,I've done 4 of and was reimbersed for all bar one as I think my car was already in Bris. One of them I drove a truck with 2 up,had some dramas but I think was reimbersed or Karen was...can't remember.
