It would be sold with the steering wheel if we had it Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Mr. Regular Guy, Fairly clear, 1 MILLION as per 1st post. Read twice, answer once. Mr. Ragtop, I think that is a very straight forward and plausible explanation, and if you do not like it, please show some respect. The gentleman is selling a GTO steering wheel, it is his, and has the God given right to request whatever he feels. No need to be wry or ironic. After all, the most valuable painting in the world was once sold for $60 (sixty dollars). Then, for $420 Million. Observations? Regards, Alberto
Dear Alberto, With all due respect, I did not reply to Arnaud's explanation... "It would be sold with the steering wheel if we had the button." I accepted his answer. However, I am suspect of a new member's 1st post selling an item for $1million Euro. Just looking out for the community. I think the present owner of the car should be contacted and offered the first right of refusal.
Yah know... I happen to have a 250 GTO that's in perfect condition but I can't drive it because I'm missing.... GLWS. If you need one, you need one!
The story has been already told and is somewhere in the thread. My father has been in the business for 50 + years and has known the last owner (a mechanic) of the steering wheel for a very long time. When his health started to decline he sold his private collection. He’s now in an old folks home with a serious condition.. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
If the car is worth $60m then the asking price of the original steering wheel is less than 3% of the value of the car.
The next 250gto available for sale will probably break the $100m mark .. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Throwing in - for free with the purchase of the steering wheel - the Dunlop Cup won by Henri Oreiller during the 1961 Tour de France Auto at the wheel of the #147 Ferrari 250 GT SWB. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I new someone once, that had the supposed original body of a 250GTO and put it on a chassis of a 250GTE and tried to pass it off as a real 250GTO. The car was beautiful but it still wasn't a real 250GTO. I don't think the original serial was altered which showed it being a 250GTE.
On the upside, with the Euro's slide vs USD, the asking price in 2020 of $1MM Euros or about $1.18MM USD is now $1.04MM USD D
