I took the carbon fiber engine engine panels out of my Scud over the weekend to polish and seal as they were slightly dull. When I pulled them out I was surprised to find this triangle shaped (leather?) piece barely hanging on to the body in either side. Any ideas what purpose these serve Image Unavailable, Please Login ? I believe it is for sound ..mine is more of a foam and something on top of the foam ..have to look at it next time to see exactly material Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Was thinking the same around sound deadening but it’s literally leather that was glued to metal (and had fallen off over the years). Would think foam like FLASH mentioned above for sound deadening, as leather is probably not the best! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I found an old pic and looks like the same material you have but if iirc again i remember a thin foam underneath it but I could be wrong .. memory is not that good as it used to be Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Here’s what my 08 looks like behind the panel. It’s a pretty thick layer of insulation. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the Scud and the f430 have different material / less material Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
I had the same question. One of mine is mia. For what its worth, I don't think it is leather. The same stuff is glued to the inside of the doors for sound deadening.
All the main sound proofing in a 430/SCUD is behind the rear seats and then behind the leather or carpet cover below the rear screen to the engine compartment
Ok .. went to the Scud and looked ..exactly what you have (that dropped off ) no foam ..so please correct my statement above One interesting item is that there none on drivers side Is that your case as well? So it looks like you just need to reglue it ..and good as new .. now what would be the best adhesive? Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Thanks for all of the inputs gents. To answer the question above the driver side has the exact same thing which was also just as loose/falling off. Great question on what to adhere them with! It’s such a minimal material it seems that it wouldn’t do much for sound deadning! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Sound is a compression wave. Any material with mass will absorb sound. The intensity of the sound is inversely proportional to the distance from the source of the sound. Ray
Great knowledge on this forum. Humor isn’t bad either. Anyone have thoughts on the best adhesive to use to re-stick it as many of us have shown the piece is no longer are sticking, or present. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
It may *look* like leather, but I'm pretty sure it is not leather. As for the adhesive to re-apply it, use the 3M brand adhesive. It is made for that, and is likely what manufactures use. You just need to apply a thin coat to both surfaces, but when you fo to put it in place, be sure to be accurate, as there is no second chance 3M 17.6 oz. And when he says there is no second chance, he's dead serious. Any attempt to pull the part off will result in damage to the part. One thing is certain if you install it correctly it won't come loose again. In bocca al lupo! Ray
Ok now that we helped Detommaso solved his issue there is one thing outstanding ... On a scud should there be one on each side and i just got an off day at the factory or should there be only one on passenger side Was there a difference between 2008 and 2009 ..us vs row I have one on passenger side ..2009 scuderia us .. and based on undercoating it never ever existed in driver side Please chime in TIA Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Hey Dominick-there is absolutely a piece just like it on the drivers side on my 08’. I don’t see why they would remove it for the 09’ just on the drivers side so I would imagine it was a Friday car. Both of mine were loose and you could see the red outline underneath them and the crappy black paint in a triangle shape around where the piece was. It’s evident that they stuck it on first after painting the body and then they added the black paint over the top. By the sounds of it you do not have the triangle outline with the paint showing so it sounds like it was never there. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Seems like scott too didn't have on driver side ..any rhyme or reason..who knows Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
First question I would have for Scott is can he see a yellow triange (paint) where the piece would have been. If so we can be certain that he used to have a piece there. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
