I’ve “finished” The spec on my GTS in a beautiful silver color. My original thought was for a classy GT-type car to avoid a stripe. However, as time goes on, and my thought this will be a very special “forever” car that maybe a beautiful stripe (as shown with the color) might be a nice touch. Advice I have received thus far is contradictory, but for the most part is too keep it classy and elegant and avoid the stripe.

I’d be curious what you all think, you being lovers of Ferrari V12s classic and new, you having specc’d hundreds of cars collectively, being international and cosmopolitan, and having looked at thousands of cars on the internet over the years.

I think I like that stripe on the color of your spec. It could look extra special

I suggest to avoid the stripe because that's a convertible. A stripe on a convertible doesn't look good when the top is down. The stripe is "broken". In my humble opinion.

Rob , no stripe from the factory. Maybe add a wrap stripe later that can easily be removed when you get tired of looking at it or feel Ike a change.

Excellent idea. Plus it will cost 5% of what Ferrari charges.

I think the “Italian stripe” would look amazing on silver. I have seen it on white many times and was always one of my favorites.

I'm not usually a fan of stripes...but Tricolore plus Argento looks pretty good, so I'd say "Go for it".

So my $0.02 observation is that stripes have gotten wider over the years. Sometimes that can detract from the lines of the car. I really prefer this narrower stripe and hope we see more of this. That said, I'd encourage the stripe-curious and less certain among us to experiment and paint a sample on wood to make 100% sure. Sampling is not a lot of money against the regret of choosing unwisely.

I agree on the trend to wider. I avoided it for the ability to keep the yellow/black/yellow design on the interior but also because the special paint costs are so exorbitant I hate to cover up more than I necessary. I made the call yet black stripe the same width as the Ferrari emblem on the front and then went from there.
I also agree on the mock up to get the proper perspective and colors. I was able to do this on autocad with them but on wood would be even better to get a good feel for the look.

While I voted no, the GTS can pull it off better due to the lack of hatch compared to the 812SF.

I just am too young to appreciate stripes I guess.

    Exactly this.
Have a friend who specs his Ferrari’s amazingly well, and the last couple he accented with aftermarket stripes. This way it’s reversible.

Which silver did you spec? AN or another. I love AN and have had several Ferraris in silver but have been counseled against it again and again.

    Well it’s only money.

    It’s called Silver Sanos, a four-layer paint.

That Pista bonnet is hanging on the wall at NYC atelier I believe.
