The Petrolicious car! This sold on BaT a bit over a year ago. I loved that car and it’s why I’ve made mine look like it. Interestingly, the noise of the Weber’s is better than that of the Alfaholics full header/SS exhaust.
Man you got the best deal in the world. That thing is CLEAN. I actually looking for as stock looking as possible, but I would take that at $40k in heartbeat.
I feel like the Petrolicious car has been in and out of BAT a few times. Something must be up. It's nice for a restomod, but I'm looking for a stock look. I've already got too many cars that look racy, I just want a nice classy vintage looking one with the polished bumpers, original interior and steering wheel. Engine mods are fine. I prefer the stock wheels over the Alfaholics wheels too.
lol, if time where on our side, I would contemplate it but I leave for work abroad in a week. Also, my girl has a couple leaks that need attention and a pair of freshly refurbished Italian Weber 40DCOE carbs properly jetted on the way from Germany. She’s not even properly registered yet due to DMV/covid nonsense. I keep a copy of the bill of sale, my appt slip, and ins card in the car in case I get pulled over. lol There are some nice cars out there. DV Mechanics in So Cal might be able to steer you towards a clean car.
We've got a '72 that can be made available. It's been part of my father's collection since the late '80s, the rest of the cars in the photos have been sold or auctioned since my father's passing early last year. The GTV is completely rust free and mechanically sound. A few small dents and scratches only and needs a bit of cleaning. Fun fact, the car was allegedly originally owned by Gregory Peck. I remember seeing documentation containing his signature when my father bought the car but can't seem to find it now. I just sold this ‘71 last Sunday, deposit accepted. Meticulously documented on the AlfaBB. It was very nicely refreshed, but an issue with the paint developed (groups or patches of small pimples all over) sold for $35k. This was not advertised for sale but was sold by word of mouth. Good luck with your search. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
$35k for that ‘71was well bought. Love the flying buttress seats! Ken, please post your findings. I’ll be interested to see what you end up with.
I think it was fair for both sides, you can easily drive it as is and enjoy, but if you really wanted a nice car, it needs to be stripped back down and respray. I did not want to go through removing all the trim to do that. Plus, its staying fairly local and I'll be seeing it from time to time.
I unexpectedly purchased another 355 lol. This is going to have to wait, but feel free to keep posting the cars available. Other Fchatters might be interested as well. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f355-9/ On a side note, I think Bob’s car would be a project car for me to bring it to a certain level I’m comfortable with. Unfortunately, I am not looking for a project car and had a projected budget of $45-55k for a good car. If others might be interested, feel free. These cars are worth restoring if you’ve got the time for it.
Congratulations on the new car! GTV’s are plentiful. There will be one avail when the time is right I’m sure.
Those guys are just a few minutes from me! Always have some interesting stuff. I’d be happy to store the car in my garage if needed. And of course give it a bit of exercise too! congrats on the new car!
Should be loading up Thursday . Was my first time in NC. Took a nice 30 min drive around the beautiful neighborhood. European Performance appears to be the local Porsche specialist. 355 was traded in because the only local Ferrari indy (Exotic Car Specialist) passed away in a car accident as I was told.
Yeah I think he passed just recently too. Went to his shop once. Had a Miura on one of the lifts. Car looked great on BAT. certainly a worthy substitute for an alfa!
Thank you. I was told he passed away 2 months ago. Very unfortunate, especially as it was not his fault. Life can be unexpectedly short. A reminder to all of us to go get yours while you still can. The Alfa GTV is a classic classic . Two totally different types of cars with different purposes for me. Maybe I'll be actively in the hunt again in another 8-12 months as it is still on my bucket list.
