Sorry I missed you Joe, hard to find people in the crowd. Agree that the Queanbeyan park works much better and brought a bigger crowd. The losers are the car hating bureaucracy in Canberra.
Good turnout and certainly more than in past recent years. Not as may of the early Fiats , Alfas and Bikes as in past years but certainly more cars overall.
Looks like I've missed the boat. Reasonable JA models now fetching $30k plus and Quality JB and JD examples unobtanium.
A bit chilly but a good turnout nonetheless.. Don’t get to see many Stratos so they were one of my highlights.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I met a nice gentleman there today that had a 328GTS as well,, Lovely man that was telling me his stories of the 20 years of ownership of his car,, His car was shipped to the UK by the previous owner then he went there and bought it and drove it around UK and Europe before shipping it back to Sydney.. His name is Michael but I didn’t catch his last name.. WRXMike,, do you know him? He is in the club..
Probably Jim Carpenter cars from Arizona when he was still converting 308's & 328's, I sent my 328 to him following an altercation with armco at Lakeside back in the early '90's. He had a healthy business doing these recreations back then as well as building P3 replicas. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nearly all the Stratos replicas are built on a space frame and when they were initially released in the mid 1980’s, were usually based on Lancia Beta running gear, ideal given the brand heritage and also a cheap donor as most Lancia’s had rusted out. You also have the option of fitting any other transverse engine and some were based on Dino v6 motors as well as Ferrari V8 and Alfa Busso V6 Apparently, owners of the genuine cars buy/bought parts from the replica builders as Lancia had ceased making parts and reputedly the quality of the fiberglass parts were superior. Note that I used the words ‘apparently’ and ‘reputedly’ http://www.hawkcars.co.uk/hf3000/index.html

Yes that’s him.. He was telling me that he was having issues with his Immobiliser after having the EZ electric power steering unit fitted by his mechanic and told me that a club member helped him get it started yesterday.. I had to leave by midday so I didn’t display my car as you weren’t allowed to leave before 1:30pm.. Nice turnout though, bit disappointed that the cars I took interested in were replicas,, they looked nice to me though..The Miura was outstanding and the owner was a nice guy to chat with too.
