The next GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) meeting should be interesting. They usually discuss safety issues. The actual President is ... George Russell.
Right. Meant to say they stayed relatively close the guys up ahead that passed them, specifically HAM and NOR. Definition of relatively? Using Norris as an example, I would define relatively as between 1.877 and 3.334 seconds: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't care who's fault it was, but WTF was Bottas fighting a Williams!!??? That's the real question isn't it???
Sainz is never going to do well, nor him nor anyone when his team mate is the fastest driver on the grid.
Sad he is. Might want to learn to assess his moves before lecturing others. IF IM TOTO - I hire Norris. That is also not out of the question. Id rate Russell below Norris currently. Norris has a 'maturity' not showing in Russell at all. Russell is coming off as entitled punk whining boy today. Its pathetic.
In a way, it's good that accident happened to remind drivers a) not to change line to defend their position too aggressively, b) never trust another driver who's about to be overtaken. I think this time was another case of intimidation that didn't finished well. Russell kept his foot down, whatever happened. I salute that!
Intimidation? See Ant Davidson review of this. That was the LAST thing Bottas did. Russell made a pass outside of the dry line, in a place where the normal racing line moves slightly to the right, Bottas followed clearly the line and the DRY line. Russell failed to maintain control. Period. Russell might also remember touching a driver that just passed a 'finger' is rather foolish. Others might have grabbed his hand and inflicted a bit of pain. Bottas was clearly affected by the impact and actually didnt need a PATHETIC lecturer after a severe G impact. Russell is an IDIOT. Clearly only concerned with himself at a time when that was the LAST priority.
I still can't believe the luck Lewis had this race, even 1 mistake could've easily cost him the race and left him with 0 points. Yet despite both mistakes he was still in the race. So much luck. It's just incredible.
Russell making a habit of going off by himself when in the points at Imola. Was it the same spot as last year?
Yes good observation point after race 2. The lack of testing is apparent possibly. Maybe new to a team drivers should get a bit more, better would be 1 or 2 days more testing overall. The 'adapt quickly' question appears even for FA etc. Off all the new drivers Sainz appears somewhat settled. I thought Sergio was until today lol.
Yes, but, unlike some drivers, Hamilton never accepts defeat, even when the situation isn't to his advantage. That's what makes him so different from many drivers, not his car. Today was a clear example. After a mishap, Hamilton doesn't lose concentration, he recomposse himself quickly and often salvages something out of what is a catastrophe. After one mistake, many drivers just give up, or keep on making errors for the rest of the race: Perez today was a example.
You dont really seem to get it, being in the gravel for plus 30 seconds while your teammate crashes less than <20 seconds later and causing a red flag has nothing to do with skills. It's pure luck. Driving over the yellow curbs in turn 1 after race start making a mistake while sustaining damage of the front wing, but not enough damage to take one out is incredible luck again. Lewis is the happiest man on earth today.
I can see Alpine going backward this year. At the risk of being labelled anti-French again, I would say they brought it upon themselves. The complete change of management at different echelons at Renault and Renault Sport late last year is one reason. They sacked Abiteboul and brought new CEO and team principal just before the season started, none of them with F1 experience. I think Ricciardo had good foresight when he decided to move to McLaren.
O dear, what a typical fanboy reaction, "one does 'make' luck in life", you can always make that point irrespective of how the race developed, This has nothing to do with skill. That's the entire point. Lucky Lewis made 2 big mistakes which should've /could've ruined his race, the reason it didn't has nothing to do with Lewis Hamilton but everything with luck. And that's obviously the point.
