ok before i got blow another 1600 on tires i put 150 miles on, is this the absolute largest size i can go with? anyone want 4 brand new PS4s with 150 miles?
Running the 245/40R20 fronts with 295/35R20's is not an option unfortunately. That change in front to rear difference is beyond what the ABS/RSC can deal with. You need the added diameter of the 315/35R20 rears. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Ok thanks. Gonna try them on my spare wheels. May just go with the veds all seasons that way i can keep them on all year
Look into these. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DWS+06+Plus&frontTire=44YR0DWS06PXL&rearTire=135YR0DWS06PXL To me they seem like a better fit. The Vreds are Grand Touring AS A shoes, but these Contis are UHP AS. I think they match the car better overall. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The rear offset is different. The Lusso rear wheels has 10 mm less offset. The rim width is the same.
I owe you a dinner whenever you are in New York… Continentals ordered and going on the lusso rims tomorrow or Tuesday. If this works well for the summer I will get the equivalent size vreds for the winter
Thank you so much for that and I might just take you up on that. But really, you don't owe me anything. This is what this forum is all about Remember that if you go with the winter boots like Jerry did, the rears should be 275/40R20 rather than 315/35R20. I talked to my buddy from Michelin earlier today by the way, and just ran the size vs. pressure by him. Start by trying 30 psi in the rear and 32 psi in the front. They may like even less, but start there. I know the rear pressure seems low, but that's a big addition in volume compared to the original 295/35R20. Put up some pics when you get them on, so that others can see how those tyres look on the FF
I think if i run 30 the tpms will come on. Oh boy i will definitely forget about the rear sizes when the winter comes. Ill do what i always do and ask jerry first!
Ricky, I think you can reset the TPMS and it should be ok. This worked for me with lower pressures on the 812. Good luck!
30 is what the Pirelli winter tyres should be, so that is within the reach of the system.. Just set the pressure with a gauge and reset the tpms. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Just reset the system- its in the menus- the car needs to be on and stationary, fiddle around and you’ll find something that says reset TPMS. You may need to drive for as long as 40 minutes before they come back. Hopefully its sooner. I had it take a while once. Its interesting, with my unscientific fiddling around I have settled on 30 front and 32 rear (for the 245/40 // 275/40 combo) - could it be I wrote it down backwards? Its a lot more volume of air on both no? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
No, that sounds about right. When I talked to my contact at Michelin yesterday, the 32/30 numbers were very much a starting point based off of the problems with blowing out tyres. He was actually suggesting 30/29 but we decided that it might be better to air on the side of caution to start with. It's easier to start safe and take it from there. It also depends on the temps. If the hot pressure don't spike and go high, then it should be fine. Looking for 33-34 psi hot on the front, so 32 is a good place to start. If it goes above, then it's time to drop it to where it should be.
The Contis have been put on and the car is struggling to find the right gears. It drives terribly and shutters at all speeds. Thoughts?
My guess is that the ABS needed a re-cal. After driving a bit, the system will read the ABS ring on the tyre. The 4RM system in the FF is a bit less sophisticated than that of the Lusso, so it might be a bit of a slow learner. Sometimes you can reset by disconnecting the battery for more than 10 minutes. This will reset what the gearbox have learned from your driving style as well as the ABS etc. But seeing that the car seems to already having figured it out, I see no need.
