Watch it again, the 34 was pushing like he should have been and the #2 tried to make a pass, the real estate just wasn't there.
They're racin' on the dirt at Bristol today. Anyone besides me see a train wreck of an event happening? On top of what will be an eventual spin fest, NASCAR has now altered the stage lengths to 100 laps, 100 laps and 50 laps for the final stage. Also, there will be two competition cautions during the race – on Laps 50 and Lap 150. Caution laps will not count once NASCAR sends the free pass car around. So, on top of what promises to be a caution filled day, NASCAR is adding three interruptions. Will the goobers in the stands be protesting? https://jalopnik.com/nascars-bristol-dirt-race-is-going-to-be-absurdly-compl-1846421493 BHW
Mixing it up, yes, a fine thing. But, with NASCAR everything is a gimmick, hell even Richard Petty is calling this experiment "unprofessional" and a "gimmick". What happens when the dirt is so thick on the windscreens that drivers can't see and starts clogging their radiators? It's going to be a demolition derby. https://jalopnik.com/nascar-legend-richard-petty-says-dirt-racing-is-unprofe-1846566908 BHW Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The competition yellows is what put me off. They have enough cautions as it is. If they have a caution at 40 laps and go green at 45 then they will still throw that damn caution at lap 50. What a joke. If a caution comes out at anytime prior to the competition yellow then that should serve as the competition yellow. Now the actual need for a competition yellow to begin with is another debate. Too many cautions and influencing races!
Excellent event at COTA. Definitely some rain but I had a great time. Nice to see crowds at a race as well. Really hope they come back in 2022.
The times I turned it on TV, it looked like a crash fest debacle. Glad those in attendance enjoyed it. Question on the wipers though, are they operated by hand? BHW
The off again on again rain was pretty brutal for the drivers and related tire choices. Some hardcore fans though who go to Nascar races which made it fun. My first nascar race as well and the noise is just fantastic. Definitely will be going to more.
Justin Marks will be running nascar in 20 years. what’s funny is the speculation that this frees up capital to expand the IndyCar and IMSA programs for Ganassi. Chip doesn’t do anything without the sponsorship/funding lined up. And I believe Chip inherited a nine figure fortune from his dad so selling the NASCAR team is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things
