State Farm here, as well
Agree, I am currently also with State Farm for all my cars and home. My F40 was in the collector policy. I’m wondering if it’s worth moving the Speciale or TDF into the collector/stated value category. Rates will obviously be higher…but the current values have moved considerably. The Speciale is truly special. Last of the NA V8 will only go up! Why would anyone buy a Pista over this?
If there are consistent listings and sales of the car, stated value isn't a huge benefit unless your spec is a complete outlier (i.e. Tailor Made). In the event of a claim, it should be quite clear what the car is worth due to the abundance of public data out there. The Speciale and TDF generally always have public listings and recent sales data to draw from.
For some, there's room for both. Perhaps, in the minority, but I prefer the Pista all the way. Love a powerful TT.
On Autotrader, there are about 10 coupes for sale and most are starting with a $4xx. The 3 in the $3xx are high mileage and one has accident history (Rosso Corsa). 4 Apertas, black (been there forever), silver Rosso and yellow (higher miles) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Any details of the spec? Was is launch spec? Tailor Made? This is the price level 458SA previously occupied, now they are pushed up close the 800K and one listed for over $1M What is most interesting is that at this price level so few are listed for sale, seems most owners are holding, don't blame them, nothing replaces the Speciale!
This BAT auction ends today…. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015-ferrari-458-speciale-7/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-12-16
Yikes, I may need to adjust the insurance on my recently acquired Speciale, which is a very similar spec to the one in the auction. Is the winner here by chance? If so, congrats - amazing car! Ruben
Will be interesting if the sale actually goes through. Bidder only has a history of bidding (not winning) a model car collection on BaT. Pcarmarket had a rebuilt title same spec Speciale "sell" for $255k last month only for deal to fall through after I saw it relisted elsewhere this month. Still for sale in same area as this car with $100k in options ($249k, 7k miles). @technom3 had mentioned recently how many of the supposed BaT sales fall through after the fact. Is there a way to verify these?
If Carfax shows a new title and owner, that could take 2 months or so to show up, but would be proof...that it at least sold
Are you asking if there is a way to verify if the sale went through? If so... Unfortunately not really. You have to have direct knowledge or contact with either buyer or seller. Which I have had SEVERAL. Bring a trailer does not care if you get ripped off... They are not liable. They don't care if you are lied to in the ad... They don't care if the sale doesn't go through. It's not their problem. They may elect to do something as a courtesy... Which is run it again for free if you are on the sell side or refund your commission up to 5k. That's it. Otherwise they attempt to hold themselves to zero legal liability. They are an advertising service and a go between. That's it.
That's a good point. So to try it out and to circle back to this $575k car nearly 4 months later: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015-ferrari-458-speciale-5/ Being that I live in FL I know it's easy to look up stuff as it's pretty much all public unlike other states. Running that VIN in the FL title search shows me it's still an active title last issued in 2016 (enter the VIN here) and registration expires in Feb 2023. So that $575k fell through based on that as it hasn't changed hands. Today's white car auction was titled here in FL 3/31/2020 and registration expired 3/31/2021 based on that FL govt website. I'll check it in a few months like you suggest (as of course it can take a while to update on FL website).
Thanks! However, I should point out there is another possibility, whomever purchased the car may not title it or may even move it out of the country...if moved to Canada carfax will typically show that happened (and there is a carfax website specific to Canada) So, if the person who purchased the car simply took possession but did not title it you will not find that on Carfax...
