    Hi folks, quick question on what the factory used for the various trim pieces on the car? I assume stainless steel as Alfa and others did but hoping to get confirmation or an education on this.

    Yes stainless, or at least was on my old Merak.

    Thank you, very helpful. Time to get the blacked out trim back a proper stainless steel finish.

    Blacked out trim was a factory option. If you remove that black finish, the metal beneath may be unpolished. If in fact that is the case, then bringing that trim to a state of high luster may be a real PITA.. Personally I really like blacked out trim on gray and red Meraks. Secondly, the top of the door trim is riveted through door/window fuzzy strip and into the top door metal. You may want to factor that into your considerations, just in case you had thoughts of removing that trim..
