Bob Bondurant finished his last lap

I wasn't there to see it firsthand, but I've been told Bob used to chase students around the track in his helicopter. Instructors got a chuckle out of watching students react to a low flying helicopter with an overhead "coach"

 

Bob was a great racer and a great businessman. I think he will always be iconic to me. He was the real deal. Bob’s passing was a big loss.

 

I believe he was the last surviving driver from the film Grand Prix.
