What would you guys say is a fair offer for a 85k mile pristine red 2014 458 Spider. Interior looks brand new and car has been cared for, but just driven back and forth between CA and New Mexico quite a bit. I think if the gearbox was going to fail it would have already happen. I can't find any comps and any insight here would be helpful. Would like to buy the car

I think thats about right. 150k would be a fair amount. At least you know those are true miles since about half these cars are spun back anyways.

just looking at comps for lower mileage cars around the 10K mileage area, a 2014 458 Spyder is in the $250-$300K area.
I'd use that as a comp and adjust accordingly. A lot depends on maintenance records, color combo and spec. I wouldn't reduce much purely because of the high mileage. And yes, higher usage would mean that many of the bugs have been worked out or warrantied, including the gearbox. Get a PPI and see what it needs as well.

" At least you know those are true miles since about half these cars are spun back anyways."

This is news to me, how can you tell or know that miles have been spun back? Would think that's impossible to do on modern cars, but wouldn't be surprised if someone found a way.

WOW! That's a lot of mileage, however it sounds like mostly highway. Do you have more details on the car, like window sticker, etc? My '14 Italia w/ 7k on the clock and a sticker close to $300k, is worth an easy $240k at the moment (i've been deflecting offers in this range multiple times, even though I'm not selling).

Not sure I agree with this. No one buys a Ferrari without a solid trail of maintenance records which would make this almost impossible.

    Any photos to share?

You should read about the Palm Beach Ferrari scandal which happened a few years back. With the right connections, DEIS and a few maintenance records could take you pretty far back in mileage………

Personally I wouldn’t buy spare parts from them (probably refurbished anyway).

Read the article. And would say there is a chance they could roll back some. But not beyond the last service by the previous owner if you have the service documents. I think this is isolated case - not the norm. To say “half the cars”. No way. I know my dealership and service dept well. No way.

It's a highly optioned car so likely close to 300k

I think it's a real tough call, because not many comps out there. Very rarely do you see one w/ mileage like this, but have you gone on BAT and the likes to find comps? I'd say since i'm being offered as of Tuesday $240k for my Italia w/ 7k on the clock, i'd lop off an easy $100k on that one, because mileage like that is taboo in Ferrari world. Hell, just having over 10k, has it's bad stigma alone! However, all this is too your advantage at the table! Offer the guy $120k and see where it goes. ;)

Try 2k for anything below 10k mileage and 1k over 10ki miles per mile for comp

So a comp 5 k mile car ..you would deduct 85k from other comp car to arrive at base price solely in mileage then take off for any other issues ..sticky buttons, etc

Gents - Nice little update. Car has a salvage title so not sure how this would factor in as accident was a while back and already has such high mileage at 88k miles.

Another major plus for you, if you really want the car! W/ a salvage title and 88k on the clock, i'd offer the guy $90k....

I’d buy it just to see what 88k miles worth of service records looks like on a Ferrari.

I know EXACTLY how a salvage title would factor in most folk's decision making process.....
