Sorry for a stupid question, but when the speedo is in km/h does this always mean the mileage is in kilometers? Thanks in advance.
I think so, but my opinion is only on observation. My 512TR is a Canadian car and has a km/h speedo. The numbers on the odo seem like they are km. If I’m wrong I’d be happy to be educated on this point. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I think most BBs had odos in KMH especially grey market ones where ste speedo face was just changed from Kms to Mph. maybe some Uk cars had MPH odos.
On my 512BB my speedo is in km/h and my odometer is in km. If someone silkscreens the face of the speedometer to mph then the odometer is still in km unless someone knows how to reduce the pulses by 5/8ths.
So the thought here is that the speedometer and the odometer matches either in mph/miles or kph/kilometers. The reason I ask is that more than one dealer thinks they have a car with less miles on it than it has. They are trying to tell me the speedo is in mph but the odometer is in kilometers. Thanks to all!
I would think some speedos may have been recalibrated during conversion? With Gray Market Cars, WHO KNOWS!
If the speedo was remasked/silkscreened in mph then yes the odometer would continue to read in km. The only way to know for sure would be to drive it a km.
You could order in MPH or KPH from the factory. I have paperwork verifying this. Don't sweat what he says, it was probably turned back anyway.
I share your sentiments. Aside from a very few cars hiding in collections, no way most of these cars have the low mileage advertised. Too easy to pull the plug on the speedometer.
