So let me get this straight. F1 thinks they own the sky above an F1 track. So what are they going to do when a dozen F18s come screaming over a track at 0.8 Mach? Shake their fists at 'em? I guess usually F1 pays the hosts to provide the jets? So if the host isn't paid why put on a show for car race fans? But in any case it's pathetic virtue signalling enabled by that idiot Hamilton.
True. Probably carrying too much dirt to go fast. You know what idiots the RAAF has cleaning the F18s.
Former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve has insisted FIA race director Michael Masi should remain in his role. Masi's position has been placed under a spotlight since the controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix where Max Verstappen took his maiden championship after taking advantage of a late safety car period. The procedures taken by Masi during the intervention has led Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and driver Lewis Hamilton to 'disillusionment', with the FIA launching an inquiry into the events at Yas Marina. Despite the pressure places on the Australian, 1997 champion Villeneuve believes Masi executed his job well under the circumstances. "Michael Masi should not be removed," Villeneuve told Gazzetta dello Sport. "He worked under pressure with the two team principals, in particular, Toto Wolff, who in the last 5 races, continued to scream in his ears. "He did almost everything right after that safety car. The only drawback is that he could [have let] everyone [unlap themselves] a lap earlier, but it was right to restart the race. "If anything, we now need more precise rules and maybe permanent stewards. The alternative is to allow everything by letting, after accidents, the drivers punch each other like in America". Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date New Mclaren MCL 36 start up - sounds ok MCL36 appears to have pull rod front suspension. Just a run down, Gordon Murray invented pull rod suspension (works in tension - it debut on the Brabham BT42/44 in 1973/74) and ultimately push rod suspension (works in compression - debut on the Braham BT 52 in 1983) and once F1 cars went the full high nose route (circa 1991), it became de rigueur for all F1 cars to have push rod front and rear suspension, mainly for packaging reasons. Every attempt to bring back pull rod front suspension has ended in disaster (see Ferrari 2012 and McLaren 2013) although most F1 cars now have pull rod rear suspension (brought back into vogue my Adrian Newey). It will be interesting to see if the advantages of pull rod front suspension are realised with the new 2022 cars, especially with the 18 inch wheels. Image Unavailable, Please Login
