308 grille question

my 78 euro GTS has a black anodized grille

 

my '77 USA GTB has an aluminum colored grill.

 

Depends on your year.

 

My Sept '78 built, US sold car has aluminum color grill.

Here in Italy and Europe the only model ever to have a front black grille was the 208 GTB turbo (1982-1985).

It's even on my book "Ferrari - the turbo eight cylinders" cover.

Maybe the USA models were different: I don't know much about them, sorry.

I believe all US QV has the black grill except for the black US black QV that has the silver grill Which I think they did that for contrast.

 

IMO... I think aluminum color looks much better than black on any 308. I had to replace mind a few years ago (long story)... I bought one from FerrParts which they sent me a aluminum one... So I'm keeping it the same color.

To me, I think it’s more of a personal preference, when I converted mine (left pic) from US to Euro I could have went with silver grill but instead I chose black, but to be honest they both look great.

Both my later carb cars have Silver Anodized Aluminum front Grills (a USA delivery GTS and a Euro/Germany delivery GTB)

 

I am all for the stealthy look of the black grille with chrome horsey, my 308 is just that

Plus with the black grill the chrome horsey really stands out.

 

The early cars didn't have a horsey on the front lower grill or bonnet louvers , as yours does. Is it a turbo car or a later qv bonnet/hood?

 

ah, good catch. the bonnet louvers were added to my 78 Euro GTS. the louvered bonnet for later cars do not fit the carb cars, so my shop cut the hole in my bonnet to fit stock louvers. I will add the horsey cause it looks good there.
