There was saftey barrier damage. It should have been a red flag..as it was the previous race. Team Benz ruined Hmailtons race..not Masi.
Because Sir Hamilton demanded a guillotine. However, Masi will remain with the FIA in a different role that has not yet been announced.
+2021 Personnel changes are merely "window dressing". The changes to the rules will tell the real story.
Hamilton is a driver. He cannot command anything except within his own team. F1 will exist with or without Hamilton. His influance only goes so far.
I don't think you give him enough credit... https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/13/motorsport/lewis-hamilton-breonna-taylor-trnd/index.html https://vegnews.com/2020/11/lewis-hamilton-urges-30-million-fans-to-go-vegan-on-heels-of-historic-formula-one-win
TRue, he had more than one oportunity to change rubber, Toto was afraid to screw up the pit stop and he took a gamble....he messed up!
Toto 1 month ago... Lewis Hamilton quitting F1 not ruled out and would be a ‘disgrace’, says Mercedes boss Toto Wolff Toto yesterday.. Wolff on Hamilton's future: ""I was never concerned that he was leaving. I think that adversity has always made him stronger, more resilient and determined. This is the attitude I feel in him right now and the mindset I see in the team." Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has insisted that Michael Masi's departure as race director was not a factor in Lewis Hamilton staying in F1.
If s… like this doesn’t convince people that this guy is the most disingenuous tool ever, I don’t know what else will. Just like his .2 mm drivel about their DRS DQ in Brazil that people regurgitated without a second of reflection. So, how can you tell Dodo is lying? His mouth is moving.
TRue, but i'm pretty sure that decision will bit him in the arse, Masi helped them countless times, the new race director will hardly be as friendly!
I like Toto. His attempts to influence race control are legendary and often hilarious. At the same time he is pretty intense and expects nothing but the best from his team. The results of that leadership are in plain sight for all to see.
He's the enemy but credit where credit is due. He is the best team boss on the grid and anyone would be a fool not to want him running their team. Regardless of who's balls he is tickling behind the scene to get things to go his way, he's doing his job to benefit his team. Gotta respect that.
Update: AMuS Teams & FIA have discussed new safety-car rules. The idea of red-flagging a race after incidents in the last laps didn't get much support. Only change seems to be a quicker restart procedure after lapped cars have unlapped themselves. https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/neue-safety-car-regeln-2022-rueckrundung-restart-abbruch-rote-flagge/
From an English (google) translation: "The world association still owes a reform of the safety car procedure. Although it is the silent wish of the teams to complete a race under the green flag, those involved could not agree to write exactly that into the rules." and, at the end ... "However, the FIA intends to do without an extra lap waiting time in the future, which is normally inserted between the back lap and the restart. This is exactly what Masi had done without in Abu Dhabi and thus provoked a protest from Mercedes." How ironic it would be, if the new rules are even more aligned with Masi's decision at Abu Dhabi
