Same me, John Black rims, and you see nothing from the design, only a black spot. Not my choice I think the dark bronze fits good to the yellow. I like the corsa grey from the original GTO wheels, but I have none. When I bought my set from the pics, one rim was satin corsa grey, the others normal corsa grey, so I had to let them paint. I decided to go to bronze. The GTO rims from BBS (thin spokes) I will get are bronze too, but a bit more bright. Same like this FI-R Daniel Image Unavailable, Please Login
The camera from my iPhone does not show the exact brightness of the bronze wheels. Naturally they are a bit more bright. Daniel
These BBS wheels look like the original GTO wheels. The spokes were thinner than the second generation. I much prefer this style which is also very similar to the HRE 101 wheel.
The GTO wheel from BBS was the FI (fi) version. The FI-R is a lighter evolution of the FI. But this rim is not available for Ferrari models. The GTO rim with the thicker spokes is from the Italian manufacturer AppTech, a company specialized in forged wheels. Apptech produces the TDF rim for the F12 and the 812 SF. The twisted 812 rim (a twisted GTO design) is from Superalloy Taiwan, also specialized in forged rims. Daniel
Daniel's 6-1 headers now live in my 599. Took me months of looking for someone who could do it reliably and at a price I could stomach but eventually got it done by RMT Motorsports in Yorba Linda, CA. I had planned to upload a video but the mic from a phone just doesn't pick up the pitch correctly and it sounds awful in videos. If I ever get a recording with proper equipment I will record and upload. It is deafeningly loud. I now understand why you had silencers made, Daniel. I ordered a cheapo decibel meter off Amazon. We'll see if it will even read it correctly. Thank you to both Daniel and Chris for their documentation and support as I looked into buying and installing this exhaust.
No wonder it is loud. Do you have any mufflers at all? Incidentally, what the manufacturers (Tubi, whoever) call secondary cats are actually the primary cats. The ones in your old headers were precats.
With Fabios special silencers he made for me, it's absolute perfect in pitch an loudness. Small but very efficient. My silencers are running in Beverly Hills. Ask Fabio for a quote, should be not much more than his pipes. Installed in 45 minutes with a car jack. Reduce the sound level that you can drive with open valves all the time without being ashamed of the loudness. Then you can sell the Tubi cat delete pipes. Daniel
I remember, i looked for the registrated loudness of my 599 in original condition. The 599 has incredible 106 db standing noise at about 4500 rpm ( i forgot the exact rpm) listed in the documents. Normally unbelievable in these days. The 550 has 85 db standing noise, no rpm listed in the documents. The two Abarth 595 SS from my wife has both 89 db standing noise at 3750 rpm. Then i looked for the 812 and i was shocked. 111 db at 4250 rpm !!! How do they get this through the laws ??? Daniel
Daniel, I'm looking up at post #151. The BBS wheels, is there an order number for these wheels? When I go on the website it says no wheels for 599, 599 GTO! It makes no sense.
George You will not get any BBS FI (production closed) or FI-R (actual production) for 599 or any other Ferrari V12. The GTO rim was a special rim for Ferrari made by BBS and was offered as BBS FI rim after the 599 GTO production closed. No chance to get such a rim, only original GTO. So take a set when offered because perhaps ultimate chance to get these. Daniel
