Anyone got experience of changing a 430 accumulator, did you manage to change without getting air in the system ?

I have helped and guided at least half of dozen people just this year on accumulator replacement.. all without getting air in system

I sent you a PM with my number so we can discuss

My present idea is to remove the F1 pump fuse and leave overnight for the pressure to die off. With no pressure the accumulator should unscrew easily and pop the new one on- i hope

The hardest part is removing the accumulator..some are in very very tight .. success can be had with a 3 prong universal oil filter wrench (one with longer prongs)

Removing the relay is right ..you can release pressure with pressure relieve screw in power unit

My technic involves adding a few drops of fluid to neck of power unit , flushing air using the relieve valve a few times before trying to shift or start car ..

I will have to find the pressure relief screw.
Adding oil to the neck of the power unit ?

I'm just dropping in to publicly say that we are all lucky for members like flash32. He doesn't get enough credit for all the help he provides to the diy'rs on this forum (obviously with nothing expected in return). Appreciate you man!

Mine finally came in this week. Need to make some time for a call with you Dominick. Although, my car is scheduled to go into the shop next week for the O2/Misfire stuff. I'm debating on whether to let them handling it as I'm worried about getting the bleeding part right. Don't need to create any new headaches to the currents ones!

From what i read on the instructions from flash, it is pretty straight forward . I have come to a stop of changing mine while i await delivery of a tool to unscrew the accumulator, a filter strap will not look at it.

So you ordered the one with the three metal prongs that was recommended from Amazon? I was debating on purchasing it.

Yes it was cheap enough and if you have the wheel liner out it is easier to get too than from the engine bay

Houston ? We used to come off the supertankers by chopper to go Houston airport to fly to uk. Used to pump out into smaller tankers which went up to new orleans

How often do you need to change the accumulator ? Mine has a new pump, but not seeing in history a new accumulator.

12-15 years or 25k -30k .. just based on what I am seeing
Hard to pinpoint - cause it probably is affected by heat and cycles which is hard to put a mileage to

Very nice! My client is based out of Houston. Back when I was based in Houston and worked overseas I'd fly back and forth from Algeria via either LON or CDG. Small world in this industry! I'm in Baton Rouge for the next couple of months, but you'll have to let me know if you're ever back in the area.
