Congrats. I had that exact bike in black. Tons of power everywhere, perfect drivability and comfortable.
Thanks! I have owned her since 1996. Pretty amazing machine. I covered some great distances in record time back then riding from AZ to PA and back.

I posted last night my "Candy Cane" BMW R1200S on Craigslist and a gentleman from Austin, TX sent me this picture of the bike he helped his friend Giancarlo (Braking Bad) acquire a few years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's my '38 Indian Chief. This is actually a correct paint scheme for this year! Image Unavailable, Please Login
And here's my '53 Mexican Police Chief! '53 was the last year of Indians made here in the US. That's the symbol of Mexico City on the chain guard. The siren comes in real handy when those self righteous bicyclist take up the road 3 abreast! Image Unavailable, Please Login
My Ape is off to a new owner. Loved that bike but haven’t used it in 3 years. Kind of a sad day. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please explain the gear change on the right side. Is it a push forward and pull backward for gear change or an some kind of a pattern?
It would have been nice to purchase the 250 they sold a long time ago. It was in the showroom but I missed the opportunity. It's now some type of a cult bike.
I put some Apex riser bars and a set of Gilles rearsets and a Corse tall screen on the old 2006 GSX-R1000 to make it all day comfortable….what a difference! With the quiet stock pipe you can haul the mail without attracting a lot of unwanted attention….this thing is now quite the gentleman’s express. Most American bikes of this era used a foot clutch, and a hand gear change; not unlike most cars actually. Indian was famous for a left handed throttle (so the Police could shoot with their right hand?) This bike actually features a Police Shifter, which linked directly to the transmission. After 1936 this style shifter was changed to a tank-side location, which required some linkage & bell cranks. This style is considered more direct. Indian use a 3 speed crash box, and the pattern for this bike is one up toward you for 1st, then shifting through neutral to obtain 2nd, then 3rd. It's all in a straight line.
