    The deterioration of the black trim around the exterior door locks seems to be a universal problem on these cars, but I can’t find any instance of it being discussed.

    Anyone have a suggested solution for making these look like new again?

    Go to Canadian tire and get a gloss black touch up paint, give it a light scuff with something wipe it off and paint it!

    Carefully tape it off and spray paint it satin black. I don't think you want to pull the door locks, because the cure might become worse than the disease!
