Did all 348s come with black shift knobs or did they switch to silver at some point? Or was it an option? I see so many with silver knobs I find it hard to believe so many owners would swap them.

Always the small black knobs. I "think" original was orange paint inlay? The larger Silver metal knob adds heft and feels better when shifting. Speaking of silver I have Nickel plates door handles, lock pins, shift plate and shift knob.

I may be wrong but I think only the 348 Competizione had the silver knob as standard.. Many have been retro fitted though.

Were they dealer-installed? Who made them? It’s odd to me you’d have so many “ferrari guys” putting an aftermarket part on otherwise all original cars.

There’s crappy looking black knob on eBay for $7xx. No thanks.

Ricambi sells a black replacement. Hill Eng sells the Silver one. My black one is in bubble wrap stored with the door original handles etc. Most folks did not get the cars with no shift knobs and then bought random ones, they usually remove and store the original and buy the Hill version which is by all accounts better.

I actually love the original black ball. Not a fan of the big silver one.

All black, as the parts book says.

Yeah, they swap them, that many.

My car came with a silver knob, a large one. It was the first thing I changed, back to the original small black with white inlay knob.

The silver one felt like performing brain surgery with a chainsaw.

    Each to their own.

I like this white knob in the f40 LM. Does anyone know if something like this is available? Is that original in that car?

Don’t most Ferraris have a white knob on the inside? ;)

Sorry, not sure if the question was directed to me, but if so, yes, genuine from MCP. They are not expensive.

Not sure about that, it has a different part number, more info here https://www.348gtc.com/upgrades/

You do see some with the usual black gear knobs though. Maybe Ferrari just made it up as they went along!
