    Hello everyone,

As I’m sure many of you know, the #24 car was recently on BaT, which was great for exposure, but didn’t seem to have a bidder pool to suit the caliber of the car. Additionally, we felt that an abundance of what makes the car so special and unique was somewhat excluded by focusing squarely on the car itself and relegating all of its incredible history to a small footnote.

With that being said, we built a website that showcases most/all of what we felt important to know about the car. This includes the Count Czaikowski speed record with the special number 8 engine and how that engine went on to be transplanted into the #24 Benoist car for the 1935 French Grand Prix. We also included an abundance of history on Robert Benoist, who is beyond fascinating. Also included is the story of the car being disassembled and hidden from Nazi occupation and Ray finding it behind the false wall at Molsheim in 1968, all the way to its restoration and concours showings.

We feel the site does a really nice job highlighting the historical significance of the car and presents the information in a more comprehensive and digestible form than the space on BaT allowed. We’d love it if you all took a look and feel that that it will be well worth your time. Please do not hesitate to refer any potentially interested parties.

Question out of the blue. The British Bugatti mechanic , last name Williams, who went to France during WWII to spy for the resistance---did he die during the war (executed by the Germans?) or was it him who showed up after the car to live with his wife? Is his widow still alive?
