DriverSource also has in-house staff that are absolutely amazing. Those guys are so good at the mechanical aspects of these cars, they can take and fine-tune just about everything. They are not just a regular dealer, they are actually a service facility as well, they just don’t advertise that all that much. They are more than fully capable and the things I have seen them do are pretty astounding from where they started. They do not do anything on the cheap, and that’s also part of the reason that you see their auctions bring higher money then maybe the average vehicle. Jose is a car guy and everyone on their team is top notch (Brandon, Aaron, et al.). I am in Houston, so stopping DriverSource is easy. Until someone has gone by there, there is no way they understand what makes them different. This is unlike any other dealer I have known. If you have been there, you understand.... Shawn

Another Daytona for sale on Bat. Why that beautiful original color had to be ruined by painting it " ridiculous Red " is beyond me. And love the owners time line " purchased by racing driver but seized by Dutch government " for drug charges!!!. A great Daytona that needs attention to put it to where it was and what it was intended for. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ex Randy L. Gori, who tragically passed away 4 January 2020. Later sold by RM in Amelia 22 May 2021 to next owner in Naples. Marcel Massini
strange mix. usa car. no rear or side reflectors. early photo shows silver nose. says 1972 but built in 1973 this pooch has been screwed.
To me, 16553 looks like a pretty typical attempt to make a USA car look more like a Euro. One of the funniest things out there is the Kyosho 1/18-scale Daytona model. It is actually a pretty decent mass-production effort, but they clearly used a Euro-ised USA car as a pattern; USA exhaust, but exposed surfaces all are in Euro config. There are even holes in the header heat-shields for missing air-pump gear... One interesting thing is that if it really did come from the factory with the silver nose, that would be the latest SN that I've ever come across with that feature. Mind you, I've only looked carefully at maybe a few dozen cars in my life, but all the (generally only claimed) silver-nose cars were 1971 cars.
From what I have seen serial numbers in the 14900 range were about the latest for the silver nose paint. Years ago there was an owner here with a black 1972 Daytona Spyder who claimed the silver nose was a factory paint option. The original factory Idea was for the 1971 intro of the USA required pop-up headlights to mimic the plexi-nose look using silver paint. The silver nose 'look' was not generally popular and eventually disappeared.
The owner who mentioned the silver nose paint option was '410SA' here but not seen since early 2021. The Spyder pictured is listed as a 1971 with *14415* as the number and with euro spec details. Certainly in the silver nose paint number range. Maybe Marcel can comment on the original color combination? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
14415 was born Blu Dino and had a white stripe on the body flanks. Born September 1971. Repainted red in 1973 already. Marcel Massini
Lots. 13745 and 14093 come to my mind. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
ok. thank you. i have pics of the orig dino blue with a silver side stripe that now obviously was added later in life.
Another no sale on BaT - #14187 bid to $600k. A very nice and correct car (other than repaint in red) with Classiche red book, FCA Platino and Coppa Bella Macchina Awards.
Seems like Daytona’s might be in for a rough ride for awhile... People were knocking the seller for not being engaged, and Coppa Bella is not the same as leakdown numbers, but still, for a Platinum car that seems sort of surprising...
Daytonas are one of the great cars to come out of Maranello but they have gotten this bad wrap that they are heavy and difficult to drive slow and on twisty roads. That and the Dino being the flavor of the year bringing more money since they are light and more nimble not to mention the looks. For me given the choice the Daytona is better and a lot more car, but that's just me. probably this Daytona would have gotten better results with the original color and more representation.
