What dealer. Do you have photos or a vin
Very nice. This insane wait times after shipping must be killing you. After ordering several Ferraris I’ve never seen waits like this AFTER the cars are built. Somehow Porsche is able to get cars through customs and to dealers often less than a week or two. My last two Porsches (2021 911 turbo S cab and 2022 Taycan turbo S) were at the dealer getting prepped 3 days after the ship landed!
From what I've read: 90 - Water (in transit) 91 - Arrived at port 92 - PDI completed/Awaiting transport 93 - Shipping to dealer 94 - Dealer stock 94R - Retailed I didn't get specific status breakdowns from my dealer. Just "shipped from Italy, arrived at port, arrived at dealer." It was three months from shipping to arriving at dealer. Hoping to pick it up tomorrow if paint protection is done.
Yours was in the same boat as mine. Mine is going to San Diego so we’re probably on the same truck. The status updates and pictures for mine came in randomly like yours. Probably doesn’t make you feel any better but you’re not alone at least. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The reason I don’t think 91 is a a real or at lest reliable indicator is the journey from Italy on the three ships is around 20-25 days plus or minus. With the ability to track the ships I can say without question that my ship arrived into port at the end of August. However three weeks ago when all three Ferrari ships were heading back to Italy my car was still listed as status 90. Maybe it’s a one off and I have to admit I don’t talk to my dealer regularly so maybe I’ll ask him today.
So I just got an email from dealer. Status just changed to 92. Any idea how much longer do I need to wait?
and what status are you showing currently? My dealer says that status 92 means it has not yet been loaded
I didn’t ask that status number he just told me that it had been loaded on a truck and to expect 7-9 days transit to San Diego. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Here are the time lines for my Portofino M to get from the Port of New Jersey to San Diego: confirmed at Port of New Jersey, waiting for customs 8/20/22 on a truck headed to San Diego 8/29/22 arrived at dealer 9/7/22
So maybe I’m confused but my car hit status 90 on August 2. Folks mentioned the 2-3 ships that go from Italy to the US and the tracking shows the transit across the Atlantic is around 20 days plus or minus a few days. Spoke with my SA today who said I’m still at 90 8 weeks later? How is this possible?
Could be sitting in customs, who knows though. Seems the status updates usually lag behind where it actually is as well.
Seems like the most likely scenario is that the car is in customs and they just don’t bother updating the system (maybe because (a) there is nothing they can do to move it faster and (b) probably avoids lots of phone calls/emails from upset customers wanting to get their cars.) I looked up the shipping routes and these things move pretty much like clockwork except the occasional few days delay here and there for ports that are backed up. However, it doesn’t seem to ever take more than a month to get from Italy to the US so it would be impossible for a car to really stay at 90 for 2-3 months if the system was accurately updated. I think at this point, I will just try and forget about the car and stop asking/inquiring. Given we are firmly into the fall now and the weather is turning, probably wouldn’t see much drive time anyway. That said, Next time I’m definitely doing the air freight thing.
I paid $33k for air freight, got the car in June. I got to enjoy a whole extra summer in the car. Everyone's different, but I firmly feel like I got the money's worth out of it since it's a summer I'll never get back. If I had waited for the boat the car still wouldn't be here, and I'd have to wait until late spring to really get to enjoy the car to it's fullest.
Does anyone have any insight on status 92? Particularly why would the car stay in said status for almost a week
