How many original P538s were built by Bizzarrini, I thought that it was just a handful? They seem to have multiplied.
Only 3, possibly 4 original cars were built between 1965 and1967. Some say 5, but it's believed the crashed prototype was re-used with a new chassis number. Another series of 4 cars (possibly 6) all with Chevrolet engines was built by Diomante (a former Bizzarrini associate) between 1975 and 1977.
velocetwo, simply beautiful. I thought it was under 5, but I'm only wiki-smart here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzarrini_P538
Well I know of one collector who has four of them(I think that two of them are genuine) and another with one. I think that there must be a dozen or two of them out there.
Four cars were made while Bizzarrini was in business. The first built was crashed in testing. Three of the four original cars remain. Mike Ganmmino's Can Am V12 Lamborghini car, The LeMans car and the Duke D' Aosta coupe. Giugiaro's Manta was built with spare suspension parts, After the bankruptcy Giotto and his wife made 8-10, Diomante made a few and there were some made by Giotto off of Pantera chassis's. Total count unknown but I would guess 20-30 post bankruptcy. The last batch of six cars were made by Bizzarrini and his wife while they were in their late seventies. Of the four original cars only one had a chassis number this was the Duke D' Aosta's coupe, why ? Because he was the Duke ! and he wanted to drive it on the roads. Image Unavailable, Please Login
