Ah!, I’ve done some whoppers, I was at my mates dads place “here” at number 22 Royal crescent Bath (the only one with the yellow door) for New Years when Roy owned it back in the 80s, on the stroke of midnight we all decided to go out onto the top lawns to bring in the new year, Gaz couldn’t find the key to the gate (only held by residents for exclusive access to the upper lawns , soo everyone climbs over that nasty looking fence with the sharp spikes, all successfully apart from yours truly whom impales ones self beautifully in the right arse cheek , I managed to lift myself off the spike and sing the Auld Lang syne before walking for 40 minutes to the hospital, Image Unavailable, Please Login only to be told to come back in the morning when your sober. Roast shoulder pork Recipe to be ready for 7.15 PM: 2 1/2 kg pork, before placing it in cooking tin (no trivet!!) place about 8 cloves garlic, cut, smashed or whole, some salt and pepper. Place pork, rind up, on top making shore all the garlic is tucked underneath. Pour some good quality olive oil over the rind and massage in using your hands then sprinkle salt over the top Pour in about 3/4 cup water and 3/4 cup white wine. Stick your oven(I use a mini 2 person electric) on 160c and then bugger off for about 2 1/2 hours. When you've remembered what's for dinner 'coz you've been away, open the oven and place as many medium whole potatoes as you need. Turn oven up to 190c for another 2 hours and keep turning every 1/2 hour,@ one hhour to go move the whole lot into another tin and scrape all the gunk off into the original tin to make your gravy You will end up with THE most succulent falling apart joint you'll ever stick in your mouth with great crispy crackle! sorry no pics!
I find that a very sad statement... certainly when I first became involved with car clubs in the late 70s (Fiat and Alfa) nobody ever talked about ‘status’ or future values - it was all about the DRIVING. Everyone aspired to Ferrari not so they could sup lattes dressed like postboxes but because it was the pinnacle of DRIVING... And we did everything - track days, hillclimbs, motorkhanas, long country drives. I know Giz and the Qld FCA are trying hard to get these events up, but most members now are too afraid of reducing their car’s value by putting miles on it... Sad times we’re in.
I would love o do GG/ GAD events BUT I understand and respect that they are ‘blokes’ weeks so unfortunately... Heading up to Toowoomba via some nice roads (including Hampton Hillclimb ) this weekend; no big events on the horizon since Colleen smashed her foot to pieces and still can’t drive and I’m away for a decent chunk of next year.
