For the investment you are making in such a comprehensively restored car I would find out the original color for that chassis and paint it the same.
Hi Rob, Thanks. You know of course, that I did that for you. I thought you'd like it. After all, there are just so many different ways to photograph things Ferrari! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was thinking of something more conclusive like paint code decal, paint found under interior trim, original paint uncovered from sanding or dare I say it, Classiche certification.
Good question Al, did you find any color under the red on 09212. On my gt4 the only color I found under mine was the metallic rubino, and no Rosso R 187 dark red anywhere, which is weird as that is the color the heritage certificate said, which may call into mind the correctness. I am trying to get my factory build sheet but that is a whole other story...... Rob Im stuck on the Rossa Chairo R 190 or thereabouts
hi guys, i am new to the forum and i was wondering if anyone can help. I own a 1978 308 gt4 dino which i am currently refurbishing, and hae come to the point of final paint. is it possible to find out the original paint by chassis number and also find today's modern equivalent ? thank you in advance!
You would need to scan an existing area of paint or have a classiche cert from Ferrari normally. Not sure if anything changed in 78. With vin Which I don’t think would give any info at that time.
thank you for your reply, unfortunately the car has been resprayed by the previous owner. i want to bring back the original color so scanning is not possible.
You must pay for that info from Ferrari, It can take up to four months though. Or if someone else has records of the car.

This is amazing mr Massini ! i cannot thank you enough ! You have saved me a lot of trouble as it seems that the current colour is not the right one as i think grigio ferro is quite a darker grey than silver like argento auteuil, roght?
