Lancia is embarking on a rebirth under Stellantis. This video (30 min) talks about the importance of design. Lancia Stratos anyone?
Saw it only one time in an old Alcoa publicity image.....probably when an Alcoa rep visited a design class, invited by Bucky Fuller. I wasn't into Jeeps.......so I promptly forgot about it!
A larger and more streamlined old-school Stratos is a good starting place. Just hope it doesn't come out too Lambo-esque.
LIUX!........yet another "breakthrough" concept in EV's.....https://www.designboom.com/technology/liux-animal-3d-printed-plant-based-electric-car-12-01-2022/?utm_source=designboom+daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=LIUX+converts+organic+fibers+%26+bio-resin+into+3D-printed+electric+car+%E2%80%98animal%E2%80%99 Image Unavailable, Please Login .....aaaaand, its made in animal vegetable and ..... bio resins! Saving the earth as you cruise down the highways and byways.....
I finally had a chance to watch the video this evening, and it had me hooked at about 40sec. when they used an image of Tomba Brion by Carlos Scarpa who is one of my very favorite architects along with Koenig, Kahn, Murcutt, & Erickson. Lancia has a storied history of consistent innovation which has occasionally placed them at deaths door, notably in the mid-50s with the Jano designed D50 & D24 race teams. One hopes that memories of the Integrale & Stratos rally cars are still recent enough for Lancia to draw buyers to their showrooms after Fiat let the brand wither for 30 years. Can Lancia pull off its rinascimento?
Well that got out of hand in a hurry, having just mentioned the P70 deTomaso on Thursday, this popped up today. no comment - Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sort of like that it has an organic kind of theme to it, but it's a bit overwrought with too many different surfaces and segments. It would look better if it was toned down a bit and if it didn't look so segmented around the doors, side skirts, and circular wing. All the best, Andrew.
Mr. Sketchmonkey did his thing with the Purosangue. Make of it what you will. The big wheels don't hurt it either. Just my $.02 Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not sure I understand the point. He's taking an SUV (yes I know it's not an SUV) and making it into a 4 door sedan, but it's supposed to be a Ferrari SUV. Ferrari already have 3(?) 4 seaters which all look better than his result. Maybe he can try something original like a 4 seat Lamborghini Espada replacement -
Reminds me a lot of @jm2 designs for a 4-door Grand Prix covered earlier. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Meant entirely as a compliment. John was a pioneer in the 4-door coupe concept now being applied to SUVs before it was cool and before The SketchMonkey was a twinkle in his daddy's eye!
Image Unavailable, Please Login These are some of the Grand Prix sketches. Much softer than Mr. Sketchmonkey's proposals. https://www.behance.net/gallery/85304801/Pontiac-1996-Grand-Prix
Much softer, (and certainly more innovative) yes. But I think we know where Mr. SM found his inspiration......
