I took delivery of my ‘72 Daytona on March 22nd of this year. Although I have started it on a number of occasions I took it out for my first drive at 6am this morning. My initial observations are the following:
While the steering is quite acceptable while moving, it is very challenging when at a stop. My clutch and gearbox seem to be functioning as they should. The suspension feels to be in great shape. The 12 year old XWXs however feel like rocks! In two or three weeks I will be replacing the Borranis with refinished 7.5” Cromadoras/new 215/70/15 XWXs. While there are much better tires than the XWXs, I chose them simply because they look completely correct.
After 10 years of ownership of a 330 GTC, I sold it in 2012. I seem to remember that the GTC was a much easier car to drive casually.

New XWXs will make a big difference over 12 years old ones. They not only look correct, as you've said, but they are correct, which is stating the obvious.

    Love the colour!

Best move ;-) Car will change overall behaviour exponentially.
You spent a lot of money buying that car, shame they did not give you new tires with it. :-(

The 330 GTC is known to be the easiest and most pleasant Ferrari V12 classic to drive at any speed. Your new and beautiful Daytona, is more of a spirited drive visceral car. A good comparison would be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ;-) both are icons for their respective behaviour. Enjoy and you can say that you have owned two of the best examples of Enzo era wonders. In my case, where my pocket rules, I have tried to do the same , passing from the 365 GT 2+2 to the 365 GTC\4.

My closest friend (who very sadly died of melanoma) owned a red/black 365 GTC4. With power steering it was an easy car to drive…and what a great sound!

New XWX tires will ride just fine.
Glad to see you are going to the Cromadoras. IMHO they look better on your car, are easier to keep clean, and don't pose the punctured inner-tube problem the wires have.
Nice car. Yes they are difficult to drive at slow speeds in terms of steering. I believe the one on BAT recently had a PS conversion.

I made a similar swap on my 330GTC (but Campys, of course). The difference was noticeable, especially at highway speeds. And yes, the GTC is a less challenging drive than the Daytona, at least in my experience.
