I actually am a good mechanic but I will have my very highly regarded Porsche shop do the oil, brake fluid and coolant in the spring. If the car needs more Ferrari specific stuff I will bring it to F Sicard or Tom Yang. I have hundreds of pages of records. Thanks for the advice
You are most welcome Laurence, you appear to be in good hands, so why ask? Only curious Kind regards, Alberto PS. Is your Porsche shop equipped with the tool to remove knock-offs? I ask, as hammers are passe'.
I recently purchased the Oldtimers Garage knockoff tool from their representative in the States. What a beautiful design. Many Porsches now use center lock wheels. I used to use a piece of hard wood and lead hammer with my GTC.
Here is the usual UFI filters for a Daytona (or 308): Image Unavailable, Please Login Definitely has a standing pipe (I've tested). UFI is harder to get in the US. It is also noticably larger than the Baldwin (probably does not matter much), and has its lettering upside-down when installed (hopefully matters even less... ).
Sure is nice out here today. I've got to spend more time here. Seven more oil changes to go. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No and ironically a couple we have not seen for four year who were on The Italian Car Guy tour with us in 2017 decided to stop by via Iowa. You may know that as we exited the ramp at ATL, returning fron the tour, we got a call that the house was on fire. This couple btw are amazing drivers. Their previous Porsche turbo had 570,000 miles on it. Their 2015 mode has 276,000 miles on it. They just plain like to drive the country. Took this today. As for the house, we have it ready for a boutique residential/commercial development. It sits on 70 acres on 85 at a major intersection. I think this would ensure its preservation and also serve highest and best use. Key will be not messing it up as the house will be the central piece. So, we became accidental lake dwellers. Changed my oil last year, easiest oil change i’ve ever done! Frame filters leaked NO oil, ( even though i quickly slid a rag under them before removing over the engine..just in case my car has no drain plug in the oil pan..early euro car #12883..I know no one can seem to explain it..engine built to Lemans specs..
I take it since your sump pan doesn’t have a drain plug you removed the entire pan to drain the sump, right ? This obviously allows convenient access to general inspect & cleaning of the pick up screens, etc.
So here's an update. Someone was right when they said it is fairly straight forward. I think we put in around 14 quarts. If you have a diversion for the sump you are fine with a standard 4 post lift. We did manage to spill some out of the filter although small holes were punched etc. I think someone here said not to punch the holes as there is an internal tube anyway. A few pictures... A funny thing happened. After the oil change; and although I had driven the car around the circular driveway and let it sit running to warm it up, when I backed it out it started leaking gas. The only thing we did different was to loosen the front belly plate to clean oil. That's all. Gregory at GTM said the return line tends to corrode over time in these tubes that run along the bottom of the car. More fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks to GTM for their last minute help. Great show BTW. It is always good to drive up the mountain to Highlands but especially for this show. And it was great to see Brian Redman. For these great men of this generation, you'd better see them now. Pictured is Terry Clark of Clemson with Brian. Brian drove the Ford GT Mirage that Terry owned so it was good to get them together again. Terry Clark owned some amazing Ferraris. I think he had three California Spiders once. He still has an enormous collection of memorabilia. I once sat Tazio Nuvolari's helmet from his collection on my head. http://gtmandson.com/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see you’ve already changed the oil but I thought I’d post this anyway. No need to replace copper washers, or if you are in a situation where no replacements are readily available you can always do this.
Can anyone recommend a source for the copper or aluminum washers used for the two Daytona oil drain plugs. Did change the white UFI oil filters for the red Baldwin B253 filters. Thanks
