When you crack open the Stagg 18 I would be interested to hear what you think.

A small taster of Pappy tonight. Only had it once a couple years ago so wanted to give it another try. I was surprised to see this restaurant had it

The whisky maker from Blair Atholl / Bells showed me once how he drinks it: Double shot (estimated), some water, seal glass with palm of hand and shake it briefly.
I try neat, then add a drop of water, or more, and/or ice. Try in between to see how you like it best. Find out for yourself, depending on the whisky.

I like the irish 15 Red Breast, but whisky comes from one country only: Scotland. They make plenty, so why would I source elsewhere?

Let me know when you're in Houston, Paul. :)

My parents gave me one rule, they have to try it too. Might bring it over for Father's Day. Hoping it goes down well for me. Haven't had many sips of any type that doesn't make me feel a bit bad. No fault of the drinks, just my body telling me I consumed enough in my life. lol

Picked this up over the weekend. I had heard mixed reviews about the Uncut the Younger, but I wanted to try it. Waited a couple of days after my initial pour to comment on it, but it’s really good. The one I purchased is hand labeled 57.58 APV so other bottlings might be different, but this one is exceptional.

I drink it with ice and quite a bit of water .
Sacrilegious yes but it stretches it out and makes it mellower but still delivers the same flavor .

Stopped at my local spot yesterday and picked up these bottles. The BT is a single barrel store pick. I tried the Old Ezra Barrel Strength last night. Quite tasty and a little bit on the “warm” side.

Don’t really drink anymore, but once I discovered what a splash of spring water did to a nice single malt it was like now I understood what the experience of sipping a nice whisky was supposed to be like.

Used to drink it straight and acted like I liked it, but the truth was the alcohol burn overwhelmed the flavor. I got used to it but never really enjoyed it that way.

Never could abide ice in a nice whisky. Somehow the shock of the cold ruined the flavor/experience completely, to my palate anyway. Literally makes me gag.

It was a BT day yesterday at my local store. The Stagg is the 22A which just recently hit the stores. It came out after 22B which some people including me had referred to as Batch 19. So now there’s the unnumbered batch commonly referred to as 18 along with 22A and 22B.

Friend in ID found me a stagg it's en route now. Looking forward to a side by side with my last one, which still says Jr (so i think that's 18?).

    Nice score!!!

Thanks! I’ll probably wait a couple of weeks to open the 22A, because I currently have the Batch 18 and the 22B open. If the bottle that’s headed your way is Batch 18 it should be 131 proof. I thought it was a little oaky at first, but it has definitely opened up quite nicely over the past few weeks. There’s some speculation that some juice from what would have been the 2021 W.T. Stagg is in Batch 18, but who really knows.
