Ferraris are about individual taste......I've long wanted to retrim my black interior with inserts made of black/white Longhorn "fur on" leather! You can buy the full hides at a lot of places..... Live a little........
Well, how times change... A long time ago with my suggestion of installing a V8, I was basically called a heretic and to buy a Corvette. No matter, really. Same with my USA turn signal and side marker delete. Brian is right, a Dino is a thousands production numbers, whereas a SF ought to be respected 100%. I fully agree, it is your car, you do what you wish, within reason, e.g. Cow fur on the seats, or... longhorns on the hood... Regards, Alberto
Somewhat different thought than when I brought up changes ala "MR.LEE"? Glad to see you've seen the light!
Wow, interesting thread. The guy who sent you the email is an idiot—- he has no idea who you are and what you have done. I had Dugan put the original smog pump back on my Dino— happy it was saved! And no, I don’t have my car back yet but should be soon— will bring in the Boxer for some work at that time.
We stripped the last of it today which was all the fiberglass. Goes on the rotisserie tomorrow and off to media blast. Wasted no time on this one! What a shame. Anytime you finish a Dino that the haters disapprove of, I'll spare you the embarrassment and gladly take it away. Free of charge! Seriously though, I've just joined the forum because of this subgroup and thread. I DO currently own a Dino. It's a yellow Hot Wheels 1:18 scale 1998 edition, made in China. I can only dream.........................................Jeff
Yes they do, you are living the dream! I bookmarked your website too, I need to prepare for my dream. Thank you for inspiring others.
On the rotisserie and ready for media blast tomorrow! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Back from media blast today. The usual rot in places! I also get all the fiberglass media blasted with plastic media, it saves hours and hours trying to clean it all and does a really good job. You can notice allthe extra frame supports in a Spyder. The car is at the metal shop. I decided on a total euro look, so filling in all the sidelights and changing the front indicator lights to Euro. Thats a big job! The chrome is is Houston and I should get it back in a few more weeks. All the cad plating is in LA and that should be back in a couple of weeks. The black oxide is in San Marcos, Ca and it should be back soon. The column switch is out being rebuilt in Sonoma, Ca and the gauges are also out in Calif. Everything that is getting powder coated is in Liberty Hill, Texas. New parts are arriving daily and soon as plating etc comes back I can rebuild parts. I'm deciding on either Grigio Ferro with red interior and black carpeting or Azzurro Metallizzato with tan and black carpeting. The car is scheduled to go to the painter the first week of August. He should have it about 4 months.
All the metal work is finished. I deleted all USA lights and molded in Euro front indicator lights. Just like the car was originally designed. Next is fitting the rubber seals to make sure everything opens and closes correctly, then off to the paint shop for Grigio Ferro Mettallizzato.
Off to the paint shop! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All the metal work is completed and now at Speedzone Paint where Brad just finished with Epoxy Primer. This is #14 for Brad at Speedzone Paint in Santee, Calif. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jon introduced me to Brad, and I have to say, he is pretty Bad *ss. Clearly a car guy, but also someone who loves what he does and appreciates how he can utilize his talents to a crazy cause.
