As it looks like 2023 comes to a close, not sure I will get another drive, I finish at 26250 for just about 2600 miles this year! Very happy with that and hope to do more next year!

For Xmas, I got an extension cord for my Ctek and now am wired thru the passenger side vent to tend to the battery and dont have to open the hood everytime. The cable is 8 feet. It couples to the battery connection and I kept it bundled up and tucked below the Cat ECU with enough slack to pull out as shown.

Have a good list of things to do in 2024, but most of all look forward to more miles.

CTEK (56-304) Comfort Connect Extension Cable, 8.2 Feet https://a.co/d/6N4XW8k

It came packaged pretty small and tight. I originally thought about just splicing and extending the cables attached to the battery, but found this was easy enough. Definately dont need 8 feet. I was also able to relocate the little rubber plug off the battery harness to the extension too.

    Good thinking.

My wife once drove away with the c-tek attached, no damage to the car fortunately.

Its been a pretty quiet winter, Ferrari wise at least. Lots of little thing on the to-do list I hoped to get to, but didn't yet.

Some big things in store soon.

But how about this.. I made the latest issue of Prancing Horse. Page 55 there is a short paragraph and photo by our chapter president from the drive last October. Look close in front of the 812.

Finally ready to add some new car content. After a quiet winter lets catch up the thread for future history..

On a drive back in late December, I hit a squirrel. Pissed me off... probably really ruined the squirrel's day too, but put in a crack in the material on the lower front lip of my bumper, which already showed wear and cracking from a previous repair. Decided to address it properly... had local shop remove all the previous repair and fortunately found no significant damage or poor repairs, just seemingly poor prep. They nailed it and blended the Verde Mugello very nicely. Considering I see the lower bumper at eye level every time I walk into my garage, I am that much more happier to be rid of that eyesore.

Just the other day I updated my Fuel level sensor with the more modern unit Ricambi is selling. What an improvement in hardware. My old unit would not quite get to full, then linger for awhile around 2/3 then fall to just under 1/4 tank with the light coming on shortly after. But on a fill-up, would rarely put more than 20 Gallons in. I have just gotten in the habit of resetting the Trip odometer to track (fuel) mileage. Yes its as bad as advertised, but I like that it has been running consistent. Seems to be some wear on the tracks of the sender.
    Out with the old....

    And in with the new.

The thickness between the old and new is about 1.5mm difference, so the ringnut sits slightly proud when snug.
The kit comes with the wrench to loosen the ring nut. Taking apart the trunk is a few screwdrivers and 13 and 10mm sockets. Tested it off the car and got both full, and empty with the low level light. A partial fill-up for now to assure no leaks, but the level seems to be accurate

By the way, anyone have any reservations about using their trip odometer? Old habit on all cars when I fill up, but this is currently my only Mechanical unit anymore. I haven't really read about them being fragile, but always wonder if it's at the age I shouldn't mess with it anymore.

As posted on the COP thread,

I recently upgraded my ignition system to the MSW COP set up. This was a lot of fun installing this and working with @Cribbj and all his past work. To my eyes there was nothing yet wrong with my current set up, other than a cracked wire covering at the valve covers. On the removal of everthing, I found my wire boots had a production date of 9/94!

My car was the first early 456GT to fit his system.

The installs are straightforward and after a small delay with the manufacturer, we had the harnesses dialed in.

So far about 200 miles in, seems to pull stronger and a little more linear all the way thru the rev range.

Beautiful car Nick. Mark & I had often talked about putting the COP's on there but we never got around to it. Thanks again for your suggestions & comments to make it a better system!

Hi – my 1994 arrived with the same issue with the shifter spacer. Taking it apart to take a look at it, it barfed out about 16 different washers once I had all the screws off. Do you have the solid model file used to 3D print the replacement part?

    Thanks,
    Dan

I have 29K miles on my 550 and the trip odometer doesn't reset. I'm not pulling the dash to fix it, but I do wish it did work just for the reasons you stated.
