Paul, did the FAX of the Sebring pits come through? I sent from Sebring media room yesterday morning (Wednesday) on some dang gum fancy machine and never got confirmation that it went though. Let me know via this forum as I may access this board at my friends house in Avon Park but for some reason, cannot remotely access my EMail. BHW
Yes, Barton I got the sheet of info. It was very helpful. I am going to try to arrange for 8 garages to be together. Thanks alot.
yes, I am trying for garagaes 41 - 48. Right next to #48 is a "pit thru way" to the parking lot. I don't have a confirmation from anyone at the FCA yet. Even if they don't, I guess we change around the signs with the names on each garage on Friday morning.
Up at 4AM scrambling at the last moment to get things organized? Sounds more like FOC nonsense to me. Paul Sloan will no doubt concour. I think we'll keep the bar at the Chateau Elan open until at least 4AM that night though. BTW, all the locals I spoke with about the Watering Hole tell me that they have a great steak so we may make having dinner there on the FCA weekend agenda. This is the place right near the track on 27 with the big aligator out front but be aware, they take cash or checks only! BHW
Barton, We have been going to the Alligator place for years. Its slim pickings up in Sebring. The airport has a small lunchoenette thats pretty good for a mid-day break. One of my old employers used to call Sebring a festering boil on the buttocks of the world!
The Watering Hole is a good place to eat, but Barton is correct they do not take credit cards. As far as the quote from Bertocchi regarding "festering boils..." it is clear that the person who said it is a yankee, pardon me, a "winter visitor", as there are places much worse than Sebring (and yes, I am pretty sure I know who said it).
You tell 'em Debbie. Don't let those Northerners put us down! I've actually read some pretty eloquent descriptions of this event, but Speedvision kept showing this one guy in the infield drinking behind a Tiki torch! I think he had a confederate flag ball cap on. And then those fans on the sofa. After 12 hours, it started to look like Indy fans! Where were the squids!!?? With panache and savoir-faire??? Post Pics. I'm going back to the bank now, trying to meet ya'll at FCA event!
What do you mean where were we? That was our president who was sitting there behind the tikihut drinking. Priorities man! PRIORITIES !!!!! We have bars names after us:
Barton, You promised me you would never ever mention the feather boa and sequin gown...never trust the press! paul
Eventually, the press will exploit anything in order to fill space. Content being what it is these days, recollections of feathered boas and squined gowns are an important part of our history. As archivist and historian (of sorts) I would be derelict in my job not to recall those heady days! BHW
Speaking of boas, a friend of my had a green one for St. Patty's Day. I almost stole it from her as it looked good on me. A nice boa can add that little extra touch to your outfit guys! As for Sebring, I got an update last night that we have 133 folks registered for the event. I guess folks in Florida really love to drive their cars! And just think, we get to drive it again in September.
I think I'll pass on the feather boa Debbie, thank you very much, but will look forward to seeing you guys next week at Sebring.
Oh, I don't know Ira, I think you would look good in a boa! We are looking forward to seeing you too.
anyone going to Sebring HAS TO hire Barton for photos!!!!!!! I already made my request.....especially if the 3 girls from last years national show up.
Hey Barton, those are great pics Paulie and I have. Some real famous person took them. He does great work, the best in the business. Perhaps you know him!!! His name is Barton too!! How strange is that! Really, thanks for letting us use your work, you make us look good!
