This is for all us garage nuts. Just came across a new book released in Sept. by Phil Berg, titled, Ultimate Garages. Available at Amazon.
These are my idea of the ultimate garage. I love the older New England style barns. Hoping to have mine built next Spring.
the Phil Berg book is excellent. it's actually sitting 18" away from me on my desk, oddly enough. i'm planning an addition to the house and was looking for inspiration. the Kira Obolensky book "Garage: Reinventing the Place We Park" is interesting, but is more focused on the "concept" of the garage over time and how it's evolved and changed. some neat design ideas, etc., but it's not about cars the way the Berg book is. definitely worth checking out the Berg book. just do it - you'll dig it. doody.
Doody I also ordered the Obolensky book. Beginning the design process to add some additional stalls and looking for some ideas. Santini thanks for the site.
Hey guys, I've never read the books you are talking about, but they sound pretty interesting. I may just have to check them out sometime. My ideal garage would be spacious of course, with height for a lift, but most of all the garage doors would simulate old style barn doors. Not sure if you know what I am talking about, but to clarify just a bit. The doors as I said look exactly like triple hinged barn doors, with a nice decorative set of single pane windows toward the top of the door, four panes on top and four just below that, except instead of opening out they open just like a normal household garage door. Just thought I would give you guys another idea for Ferrari garages. ~ Mike P.
um... my ideal garage is made of gold... and painted with gold paint... with gold tiles...that i can easily hack apart, melt down and sell whenever i decide to buy a personal jet or something.
I've been working on mine for 2 years....the exterior is just about done with the exception of the cupola and prancing horse weathervane. Still much to do on the inside. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here's a different perspective.......black/white color scheme allows the car to be the focal point in the room. This bay is nearly finished. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ultgar that is a very dramatic look. What is the composition of the floor? By the way since I began this thread I've received both the Berg and the Obolensky books. The Obolensky book is really for those that are interested in building and has some helpful hints. The Berg book covers a range of high end car collections and how they are housed. In fact I discovered that two of the garages featured I've had the pleasure of visiting.
Wouldn't that be a bit of an add for the theives???. Personally I would rather have a really plain looking, even old looking, garage on the outside with white tiled walls, etc. on the inside. Pete
Wow twinturbo your garage and the other garages are amazing your black TT looks great also I always had a love for porsche. Ultgar please please post some more pics of that garage I remeber seeing some pics on autopia.org of that garage when it was in the building stages.
Here's a few more photos.......I stopped putting up pics since I now have too many competitors and didn't want to give them ideas. Image Unavailable, Please Login
