Why don't you come on down, we may be able to let the non Ferrari cars on the track while we are eating lunch. But, I'm not going to promise you anything. No offence, this is the same thing all the clubs do. Porche, BMW and Viper. We would like to see you there, Kelly
Thanks for the offer. I wouldn't think there would be enough Ferrari's that would come over to make the event possible for only $100 per car. That is a great deal. Do you know how long it takes to get there from Monroe or Shreveport?
Although the track is being rented privately by me for a photoshoot for an article about our Ferrari events, I asked kelly to send a message to the Ferrari club, and let anyone else know that they are welcome to spectate the track day. I'm sorry but the track limited to Ferraris only. The track is being rented for a photoshoot for a publication and some Ferrari club visitors from Germany, and the photograpers and they only want Ferraris in the photos. (there will be no designated run groups or breaks for lunch, -so I there will not be an "open" time to bring non-Ferrari cars on track. I cannot police this event, and thus the photographers have asked me to strictly limit the cars to Ferraris). Please dont ask me to make exceptions. Its not a judgement call, or mine, just someones artistic one. If you would like to bring your Ferrari out, please do. We will have an escorted run, for the Ferraris only, from my home leaving at 10:00 AM. If you dont have a Ferrari but you love Ferraris, your welcome to come watch.
Kelly could you give an update on the Track Day since Johns post about the change. What time are the cars going to arrive at the track? How many Ferraris do you expect? Any other interesting cars sign up since it was opened to all cars. Thanks Chip
So far we got about 10 Ferrari's, 1 Lambo, couple of BMW, couple Miata's and some Vettes. Total of 15 to 20 cars. Some are getting there before 10(mostly people who live in BR), I hope to be there by 10 and have a drivers meeting at 10 or right after. I'm meeting up with 4 guys in Pearl River, LA at 8 then 3 guys in Abitas Springs at 8:30 so hopefully we should be there by 10. We would love for you to come out and join us. Call me at 985-768-2511 if you have any questions. Kelly
Kelly, Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking forward to hearing those Ferrari engines again. See you on Friday. Chip P.S. I wouldnt be offended if you took me for a ride around the track. LOL
Kelly, you are welcome to use our garage at the track. Harold Petit will be there to open it up. Everyone, have fun and be SAFE.
I wanted to thank everyone who helped in this event. Everyone had a great time, I don't think anyone drove alone, everyone got a ride. Kelly
Looks like you guys are still having fun over there. I take it that is the same Enzo that was at the Classic right?
I was so busy, I never broke out the camera. But, my freind Rand sent me two pictures. The second one is what we ran into on the way home. 4 miles of traffic back up just to see this. OH MY GOD!!!! It made the news. They said they took turns all day long hanging from those crosses. I looked for Mel Gibson, but did not see him. I was just wondering if anyone ran the 1/4 on the track day? Also, when is the next time that you are planning on going to no problem, I would love to see some Fcars at the track.
New Orleans club members definitely aren't a typical bunch of guys -- most are very experienced in their cars and take performance driving very seriously. I would expect that 9/10 can turn very respectable quarter times in their cars, especially with that R Compound Pirelli rubber! What sort of car do you have? I've gathered you might own an 'SS' by your username, but that can encompass several different types of cars.
AFIK, I'm the only one crazy enough to run my Ferrari down the 1/4. Of course this was done before the track even opened so the timing system wasn't up. I believe it was the first of our track days and they had us park on the drag strip itself. No idea of time, the Gtech cord wasn't long enough, but it didn't feel too bad. Comparing it to my Nova, it was slower, but probably in the low 13's. But it doesn't really matter since no Ferrari is designed to be competent in the 1/4. Dave
