Take a look at this ruined 308 conversion to a 288GTO. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=2476267145&rd=1
You would think that after spending all of the money necessary to make the conversion that the owner could have tossed some coins into cleaning up that engine bay and interior!
And invested in some wheels that you can actually see, instead of being hidden invisible, way way way underdeath in the middle of the car!
I say he did a great job with the exterior except it NEEDS new wheels. The interior is not that fancy and the engine looks like it it got burned. I agree people should not mess with their 308 and if they want a 288, they should go buy one.
Good GOD, that has to be the worst GTO conversion I have ever seen. Yeah, looks great with those 14 inchers on there. Nice job ya HUMP! That poor poor 308.
pictures like that leave me speechless, I cant belive somebody would do that to a FERRARI! The 308 is a masterpiece in its own, why change it?
I'd be willing to throw him $200 just to fix it up properly But he has to roll doubles to get out of the pin!
The law of supply and demand: the bids topped out at $25K. But I'd imagine there are purists who would take a similar view of replacing the Marelli with a distributorless system, or updating the CIS with a plateless EFI. Humans are a diverse species. [groucho]And that's diverse Ferrari I've ever seen.[/groucho]
This is one very cheap looking conversion! If you could call it an conversion anyway. Ferraris should be left in original condition, don´t try to make a cheap conversion of a more rare and expensive Ferrari model...
I have nothing against modding Ferraris, but this is terrible. The ****ty interior, the engine bay from Tchernobylm and the wheels ... what the hell are people thinking? A stock 308 looks a kazillion times better. Someone on this board is doing a 288 clone out of a 308 or 328, and that's how it should be done. Very clean work. This is just crap.
Thats just WRONG! Why would the seller even post pictures of such a ratty looking engine? Just sickening! Again, probably another ricer doing what he thinks is 'cool' to dupe over some poor slob's life savings!
O.K. folks, let's cut the guy some slack. He's actually doing us 308 owners a favour, given that within a few years, it will make an excellent parts car.
The stupid things that some folks are willing to do. Does it come with homologation papers also... And it lacks some major things in the engine compartment, the Behr intercoolers and the IHI turbos, among other things. In fact it reminds me of the VW-Beetle with the Rolls-grille. It's still a far cry from being a Rolls.
Just to give some heads up on "Wicked Works". These guys deal exclusivly in crap. All of it...crap. They buy salvaged cars and do piss-poor conversions/rebuilds on them. They've had a lotus esprit that had the 02 conversion done on it (it was an 89) and it looked worse than this. They've had the same broke-arse NSX for sale for ages. They take torn up stuff, slap a maaco quality paint job and 30lbs of bondo on something and think it's gold. Interiors, engines, chassis.. all of it looks I wouldn't touch that company with a 20' pole. The owner has responded to others who emailed him about his cars basically chewing them out. He claims he has millions of dollars worth of exotics....which obviously explains why he sells 25K salvaged cars on ebay for a living MM
That engine bay gives away the fact that the car has been stored outside in the rain for a long time....look at all the corrosion! Yeck.
