OK guys, here's something I'm curious about. What was the first ferrari you owned? Why? Do you still have it? Brad
My current 328 GTS rosso/nero. Because I already fell in love with this car 16 years ago! A timeless beauty! Ton
1:18 360, 'cause it was the first 1:18 Ferrari i saw... Yes, i still have it... Along with 17 other 1:18 Ferraris... Sorry, i know you're referring to REAL cars, but i just couldn't help it...
1962 250 GTE. I bought it in 1982. I picked this car because I like the vintage V-12s, it was advertised locally, and it was in my price range. I kept it for a few years, rebuilt the engine, and then sold it for a modest profit. This all happened before the huge run up in prices later on in the 1980s.
The first one I owned is the only one I've owned, and the one I still own. <------ Thats it over there.
My first Ferrari was a 78 308 GTS 15k mile "garage queen" previously owned by a good friend (and car collector). He offerred it to me at a fair price, and great condition (he was adding a Daytona to his collection). I had to part with it due to an accident and the insurance company's plan to "total" it and cash me out. I took that as an opportunity to "upgrade" to a 355 or 328. During the search, a local 328 came up by a fellow FCA member also looking for a 355. This was also a very nice car at a fair price, so I took it. The 355 is still in the plan in the next year or so.
1st 1986 328GTS; 2nd 1977 400GT; 3rd 1986 TR; 4th 1967 330GTC; 5th 1994 348 Spider; and 6th my current and favorite so far 1982 BB512i . I loved them all for different reasons.
~1986 white Testarossa in 1/18th scale. I still have it. I asked for a Ferrari for Christmas one year and that is what I got. Before that, I collected Corgi Lotus and Aston Martin's from the Bond films.
'87 328GTS I promised myself I'd buy one, one day, when I saw them new at the London Motor Show in 1985 I think, bought it in 1997, sadly it went in 2001 to make way for an F355 (but I'm not really sad!!!)
My first is the 208gt4 I own now (see profile). Great car with space enough for the whole family (1 wife, 2 little kids). A great drivabillity and all my colleges are jealous because they think it is a 50K car. (just keep it that way )
I bought my first Ferrari in April. It's an '89 328 GTS finished in Azzurro/Crema. I've always wanted a 328 since they were introduced but I figured it would be black or red. A friend of mine in the business took this one into inventory and I fell in love with it! I plan on having others in the future but I think I'm going to hold onto my current car regardless. She's very special to me! p.s. For those who don't know my car, there is a picture of her in my profile.
275GTB 2 long nose alloy 6 carb euro hillclimb car. Paid 6k in 1971. Drove it for 65,000 miles sold it for 14k. Loved every mile.
My first was a 1982 308 GTSi. I flew down to Tampa and bid on it..won the auction, had it stored for a few days then went back down again and drove it 500 miles back home. It was a beautiful red/tan that was reposessed by a bank. I sold it to a dentist from Tennessee. Have had several 308 since, and I am now keeping a carburetted 79 model. Got my only speeding ticket in a Ferrari that fateful day 20 some odd years ago....despite a built in radar detector
