Gaggi, I'd love to see some pictures of your 'handbuilts'. Especially the NART spider as I'm thinking of doing that myself. PS: I gave up on searching for a 1/18 Sauber from 97. I believe you.
Your system is difficult to apply: how would you count 550 Maranello and 550 barchetta ? For 1 or for 2 ? In a sense it is the same car, but it is different, whith a huge different of production numbers, window, seats, wheels, etc. The same for 246 GT and GTS, which have differences in their bodies (behind the side windows). The same with Testarossa / 512 TR / F512 M and many others. After all, 288 GTO is "only" an evolution of 308's. I think that 1 good criteria of discrimination could be made when different VIN codes are used by the factory. For example, F355 berlinetta / GTS / and spider are different cars with differences in their VIN numbers (41 for berlinetta, 42 for GTS and 48 for spider). With the exception that automatic gears had different VIN (456 GT = 44 and 456 GTA = 50). Finally, I agree that F50 berlinetta and barchetta are the same car in 2 different configurations. Just my opinion. Greg
Interesting debate. For the longest time I refused to collect the spider etc versions of a particular car. Then I caved in. Now I'm even at the state where I crave for modified versions (e.g. 512TR targa).
I think I posted pcis of many of my cars a few months ago here (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6712&page=5&pp=20). Don't you remember ? Greg
I can do it, but only when REAL cars existed and even, some are not interesting for me. For example the 550 maranello cabrio exists really and I bought it because it was a special version for 50 years of Ferrari, but I probably would never buy a F40 spider or 288 GTO spider or 512 TR Targa (even if it existed). For example I did 4 of the 10 275 GTS4 NART spider that were ordered by Chinetti and I want them in their original color configuration. The Koenig I did, was a long time ago and was more a kind of a challenge (not perfect car). Greg
Good point! I only do or collect the mods if the car exists like that in real life. Currently I'm actually working on the one and only F40 Spider (Belgium racing team).
