66 Olds Cutlass with a 330. I could not abuse that car enough. It refused to die. Then after graduating H.S i bought a 74 Fiat X1/9. I could not pamper it enough, constant problems. But fun.

I drove a "poor mans" Porsche... a 1965 Corvair Monza 2 door, 110 HP with an automatic trans on the dash and a set of American 5 Spoke mags with G60X15 BF Goodrich tires. Bought it from the back of dealers lot for $200. Broke down on the way home in an intersection during rush hour...fun . just a bad alternator

I didn't have my license yet. And my school didn't let us have cars anyway. That didn't stop some of my friends from trying...

Was a Senior in 79 and had a Candy Apple red 68 GTO with cherry bomb exhaust. Sure do remember some good times in that back seat, Now have a Spyder as back seat not needed any more, Boy do I miss those days. Sure is true what they say "youth is wasted on the young" if we only knew then what we know now

Believe it or not, I still have it. My father bought it new in '69, in two weeks it goes off for a year long restoration. Great little cars.

No license, no car. But like Zach's school, we weren't allowed to have cars/drive to campus.

I got around town riding in my friend's 1981 Honda Bluebird (Civic, I think).

Me neither - drove Pop's Chevy LUV pickup. Also got a suitcase from Grandparents, who no doubt did as fine a job of hinting as your household did... Ex-wife kept the suitcase. <Sam Kinison>Die! Die Die!</Sam Kinison>

Ha, so that was you in that car that I burned on my Triumph Bonneville? You had great car, but those skinny tires just couldn't hook up could they? You'd pull up at the stop light with your cigs rolled up in your tee shirt (yes folks, I am that old) and glance over and flick an ash at me. Ah yes, James Dean never died did he? Too bad that it was all sound and fury when you floored it. Me, I was tooling down the road laughing my ass off.

    Pretty interesting thread.

HS: Nada... no car. Homewood Flossmoor High School, IL. Class of '73.

College (starting sophmore year): 71 TR6 with several rust holes the size of footballs... spent one summer as "Mr. Bondo" junior body repairman. Car was a rolling bondo machine... had more bondo than British metal... but a great deal for $1500 (not). Car showed 53,000 miles when I bought it but the speedo was broken (seller told me "it just broke"). Little did I know British speedo's never made it past 50,000 miles... probably had 100K miles on it. But one of the most fun cars of my life because I worked for the local municipal sewer and water dept for two summers to pay for it at a whopping $2.50/hour... along with some help from my Dad.

Later a 72 Camaro. College class of '77.
