Just out of idle curiousity on this hot afternoon, anyone here seriously considering a Scaglietti, or know anyone who is? Or just to start a debate, if you were in the market for such a car, would you buy an Aston DB9 or a 612? Robert.
Good question and topic. I'm not in the market for one, but I've read some good reviews so far. I am very interested to see how they depreciate (compared to 456s).. as there is plenty of brand new technology in the 612 and if it follows the trend of the 456s will be a bargain at 2 years old.
"Probably" a DB9,though the choice is due to economics rather than looks, but if it was "Blank cheque syndrom" then the 612
I'm fairly sure there are a few guys on here that are either on lists and/or have deposits down for the 612. Something tells me at least one of them is a UK chap.
Depreciation is always steep on any 2+2. As a former 456 owner I am well aware of how steep . Two years from now sub 10k cars will be under £100k. Personally not too sure on some of the styling details either. Performance looks good (of course) but overall the DB9 looks the better package to my eyes if you compare price/performance/resale/looks. DJ
i would not buy any new ferrari as they dont make a true sports car any more i think i will be going AWOL to lambo 12 cylinders with engine in the back thats what a sports car should be
I drove the Murcie on Sunday at Millbrook, i'm not going to waffle about it here but it was a monster
no, no... please feel FREE to waffle! ha ha.. Although, granted, its not the subject of the thread :-(
Much prefer the looks of the DB9. The first Aston I would ever seriously consider buying (if I ever had the cash). The 612 will depreciate like a stone just like all new V12 Ferraris. Have a look at the price of some of the 575's advertised in the times. Less than £120K with just a few thousand miles. For exclusivity though it would have to be the 612. At just over £100K the DB9 will sell in big numbers and may tempt a lot of Merc Cl drivers to trade up a bit like the Bently GT
Under the circumstance (DB9 vs 612), I'd be more than happy to play Bond Jnr. Got to love those (not so needed) Linn soundsystems!! And the bamboo interior and the V12 engine and that glass etched starter button and the way those doors open and the manual gearbox option and I can go on and on.
Not sure on the interior yet but def. Rosso Corsa exterior. What I can't decide right now is F1A vs. Manual!
I've got a deposit down on the 360 Spider replacement and a deposit on an 05 Vanquish. I was planning on selling my Spider when the new one came out. Lately though, I've been tempted to drop the Vanquish and change from the 360 replacement to the 612, and keeping my current Spider. "The boss" didn't like how the Vanquish's door closed. It does drive nicely though.
Had the order for 612,since seeing the DB in the flesh, ordered Volante for wife and changed the 612 to replacement for 575.(potential depreciation of the 612 and a bit controversial styling scared me a little)
Hey Johnathan, Your around here too? Nice! I'm much more of a Porsche guy and that runs in the family. Turbo S it is...
If its of any help i bought 575 this year with F1 which works great with V12 and just driven to Le Mans and back and really pushed it hard. From what I've read F1A is even better so don't see any reason to go manual unless its a purist thing.......
