Jon, I thought that you bought that car like a month ago or 6 weeks ago? It was in your profile then, I think. What's the hold up? In the meantime, I'll post another pic. Or two. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, bought it in mid-December, had it serviced right after the New Year because it was at the 5-year mark. Dealer didn't do bearings with belts despite my initial request, so we had to double back and do it (lost 2 weeks there). There was another long post on this, but the gist is that the bearings looked good however they had not been replaced in the last 10 years (at least -- the last replacement wasn't documented, so it might have been longer). Then the transporter backed out on me (because her other car canceled), and the current one is running a week late. Very frustrating. I didn't want to write a big b!tch-and-moan essay here. The transporter issues aren't the dealer's fault, but the second time around I would take a more active role in managing all of this. At least I have the title to take around to the bars... Next "promise" date from the truck driver is Monday, or maybe Tuesday, or...
OK, this new Ferrari is seriously cutting into my FChat time. At this rate my Jeep is gonna be a garage queen. Pics of my new four-wheeled supermodel - she arrived a week ago, but I got her properly cleaned up and took photos today. I posted a "birth" announcement in the Classic thread, but figured it belonged here as well. Jon, Wow! The car looks great! That color is really a nice change too. Now tell me, was it worth the wait?
Oh yeah. Had her out today for a lunchtime romp (hard day at work, etc.) and my Ferrari therapy was a rousing success.
Not to sound like a broken record or anything, but you guys DO know that your steering wheels are adjustable, don't you? I see the interior pics with those wheels up and to the side, and I just can't help mention it. Best! Wes
How? I haven't driven mine since October, but I don't remember ever adjusting the wheel or ever knowing that I could?
There's no lever - I think you have to loosen a couple of screws in the steering column, change the angle and then re-tighten. I believe this won the Automotive Excellence Ergonomic Design of the Year for 1986.
Simply remove the panel above your knees and you'll see up/in there how the steering column is fastened. Simply loosen the obvious, big bolts and adjust the column to where you like it and retighten. You won't get tons and tons of adjustment options, but it will improve it quite a bit. Let me know if you like the change! Wes Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats sad! I'm spoiled in my other cars, I put the key in, and the wheel has its own memory. So, you mean to tell me that in 1986 that was the way to tilt your wheel? Mine is a 1989. They didn't think of improving the way you tilt the Steering wheel for the next 3 years? 1960's Thunderbirds had tilt and telescopic steering columns! To be positive about this, I don't mind the position of the wheel that was set at the factory.
Here's my 1986 328GTS pictured in Prague in the Czech Republic a few years back. MARK Image Unavailable, Please Login
