Can anyone idetify this Dino 246? Taken in August 1971 in the showroom of W.H. Lowe. Regards, Carl. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thought there was only a day or so work to get it back together. Stop chasing the Chinese women for a weekend and get it done! I want a drive to see how it compares to # 21027
Ha, a day or so being the opertive word, I reckon 35 hours and it will be done. You can ask Pete how it drives, he drove it some time back (Like me really) and of course it drove better than yours......I drove yours before most the wheels were pointing in the straight ahead position remember, it was truly scary! But since I did such a beautiful alignment job on it, it's lovely now! I am sure they will drive the same. Haven't been chasing any chinese women for 5 days, I've been very good. Regards, Carl.
OK, maybe Flying Spur BC114XA? Any Flying Spur spotters besides me? Any ideas? I wonder if that's the same one next to Peter's 330 GTC?? Carl.
Thats what I think, its my old girl!Only montevadi i ever saw was KDs silver car .car in photo is to round for that.go to the bentley thread now up and look for my photo of the Spur.
Yeah they probably do drive much the same. What happened with those 7.5 inch wheels BTW? Love that black 512BB too. Stop posting photo's in case it gives me any dumb ideas
Well, hopefully we can see soon if the fruits of my labours were worth it. I do have different damper rates to you, that's the only change, except for the balanced and blueprinted 10:1 engine with knife edged nitrided crank, line bored nikasil block. portmatched heads/manifolds blah blah blah...! The 7 1/2 wheels...I am waiting till I can make 2 full sets of 5 wheels, I need to secure another three campagnolo's or one cromodora to make a second set. Here are some more pics for you Scotty. I think you need a GTO. Here is #3943 at Phillip Island a few years back. Carl. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Scotty, That is most definitely a real one. Tom Price's car. He paid $300,000 for it in the early 1980's, everyone thought he was nuts. Regards, Carl.
Always amuses me too when folks say how cheap a rare Ferrari was way back when (as I have discussed with Carl previously). These cars were never, ever bargain basement cheap as per the intended inference.
I knew there was one replica and one real one at the event. Couldn't remember which one this was. Rather have a P3/4 or 412P any day of the week and three times on Sundays
Not really, he bought it when a new 380 SEL was $40,000 USD. So if we assume the replacement S430 is about $250,000, then the GTO should be about 1,900,000. But it's not, that car would bring at least $18,000,000 USD in todays market. Put it another way, in 1982, a decent house in Toorak was about $300,000 USD. Now that house would pull $1.5 million USD. GTO was a better bet. Regards, Carl.
Sure; but it also illustrates my point. At the equivalent of $1.9 million dollars, it was hardly cheap, let alone affordable for the average person. Cars are a complete WOFTAM. If you are really concerned about investment potential, put the money into conventional investments for a far, far superior return. If that $1.9 million dollar equivalent sum had been put into blue chip shares with dividends re-invested, the value today would probably exceed even the GTO example.
we've had this quiz before.... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135299767#post135299767
