What exhaust boxes have you got finally? I'm interested. Last year I upgraded my car with Ferrarifixer's excellent )( pipe without central muffler. Combined with BMC air filters and an ECU reset I gained significant power with little effort (515 BHP according to Stephens' dyno measurement - and it feels it!). Now I'm looking for "step 2" evolution: I'd like less restrictive rear mufflers and maybe play with the intake system to gain even more power (and make the car louder - but it must not become "antisocially loud"). Stephens once measured up to 540 BHP, but I'm not entirely sure which hardware he had installed. I'd sure like to extract as much power as I can from my V12...
Andre: At the rear I have Tubi straight pipes. So the only silencing is from the cats and the straight through silencers on Phil's X pipes. OEM rear silencers are very heavy, so Tubi straight rear pipes will save you about 20kg in weight which is an added bonus.
I know about the weight savings, I already saved 10Kg by fitting the straight centre pipes, and I saved another 40Kg by getting rid of spare wheel & tool boxes! Certainly I'd love to get rid of the heavy stock rear mufflers too, but since my centre pipes are unsilenced, I don't think I could fit the straight Tubis and expect not to be arrested by the Swiss police! Especially since one of my neighbours is a senior police detective... What is the part number of the "medium" silenced Tubis, those which are not-too-noisy (no booming vibrations)? I'll look around to see if I can find a used pair.
Joe: I recorded a short clip of my exhaust sound coming home from work today. First part of the clip was inside a cross harbor tunnel, while the second part was after the tunnel on open road. Windows were open. There were lots of traffic so the clip is very short. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCwnWnU9WHY I think you tell tell the tone of the exhaust has changed quite a bit from OEM setup.
no way... you are clearly the winner in this... turn your speakers up! here she comes!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yntl16ea7wA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7zgo6TUNvw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16KkqTa8h9o
In those clips... the silenced exhaust is fitted... there's spare short non-silenced pipes and suitable side skirts in the kit of spares.... all just a few bolts away from being fitted.... this car is one mean and noisy SOB.....
OK car has been loaded into the container. 3 more weeks until happiness arrives. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After more than 3 weeks of eager anticipation, car finally arrived at it's new trackside home. So what started out as a mild makeover of a street going 550 escalated to the acquisition of a proper 550GT race car. Here are two quick pictures. This beast makes the 360 Challenge look like a SUV. I'm still awaiting race engineer & pro driver to come & show us how to run this car properly. Hopefully first test session will happen May 18th. Will take some trackside video then.
