It is quite obvious that his car have inspired some of this new "F70". One has to be completely blind not to see that. (I could be wrong but I think he kickstarted the single taillight trend again??) If Jim want to share his experiences of his ONE OFF car for FREE on here I Have no problem with that. Nonce at all. usually you have to buy a pricey book for that. I don't know, but I suppose he is a very busy man and here he is sharing his experiences with all of us. Most of us not even Ferrari owners. I may not agrere with everything he say, but he certainly have my respect.
Im not trying to say Jim cant share his experience, I believe that its great he does, but theres a thread on the P4/5 already. He is obviously a valuable member but as we all have seen this thread has turned into an argument over his car vs the F70, which is just making this thread suck to be honest. Have a good one, YNWA
The P4/5 is a beautiful car. Hopefully the F70 will be a beautiful car. Lets enjoy them all. If there are similarities, then consider it flattering. Pleasing shapes will be inspirations. Nobody is going to copy or get inspired by something ugly ( I'll use that Mclaren one off based on the mp4-12c as an example). That is my 2 cents.
The fact that the F70 looks a lot more like P 4/5 than an Enzo is exactly what Andrea, Sergio and I set out to accomplish. All is good.
Okay, I misunderstood, sorry I do think it is okay though that there is talk about the P4/5 in this thread. The "F70" do seem to be heavily inspired by it. I just hope the exhaust system will be like it as well It's sexy on the P4/5
I just finished raw sketch for new version of F150 rear. For exhaust shaping I`ve analyzed various Ferrari F1 exhausts, so expect something much different from other Ferrari`s. Diffuser is redesigned and I think we will discuss about that (is it technically correct). Also I`ve adjusted upper part where Ferrari styling is much more recognizable. I will post final render in few hours
I think the work you are doing is terrific! Please keep it going as in the absence of anything more from Ferrari, to have a few visual examples to discuss adds to the whole waiting experience.
I've changed my mind. I think there is no way a side intake with the shape of the one seen in the mule's open door next to "pizzeria I pianeti" can rise to the height of the engine air intakes which are 10 -20 cm higher. I think it will feed just the radiators, following the doors line. The engine intakes will be separate as in the mule, and hardly NACA style as seen in some renders and the f40, but rather scooped up to increase vital pressure.
Any idea on what the air flux coming from the front and exiting by the two holes at the centre of the underbody is for? I doubt it's exhausts' gases although that would make sense downforce wise Image Unavailable, Please Login
I totally agree that the P4/5 and the F70 have similarities, where they came from we dont know to be honest. We can see it came form P4/5 or a bunch of different places, and that talk would be fine if it didnt end up how it always does on these topics. I dont think its Jim's fault sorry if I made it seem like a personal attack. Just would love to be able to not look at this thread for a day or two and come back and see that we are discussing the F70 not someone's personal car or two or three people bickering about that. I know the thread wouldnt be as entertaining but it's High School drama-esque in this thread. Thanks for understanding. Rant over
This opinion I share 100%. I do like the P4/5 a lot, if find it a true homage to the Ferrari heritage. I think they really showed Ferrari which direction to take in the development of there future (super)cars. But when I read some of the posts then it is like the F70 is a 'cheap' knockoff of the P4/5.
One man's tribute is another man's theft. This is the debate that was opened when that car was created. I take no sides, I just state the facts. I think saying any car that is related to past designs now should be credited with future designs is a bit silly. So, the tribute to the past should be complimented because another car was created that related to the same past? One thing is sure in human nature: everything relates to everything. You can squint real hard at a Corolla and think it's related to the P4/5 -- and visa versa.
After more detailed research & sketches, I`ve made final render for F70 rear. Exhaust shaping is inspired from Scuderia Ferrari F60. Diffuser is redesigned, feel free to comment technical point of view this kind of diffuser shape. Upper part is redesigned, where I tried to make it more recognizable as Ferrari vehicle. If it's in the picture, it's gonna be in this version. But what is it? Could be a wing or aerodynamic device like 599XX's ears or SSC Tuatara's tunnel. There's possibility here.
I once had a Porsche 911. A friend said it looked live a VW. I said, "No way." He said, "you are not squinting hard enough." All in good fun.
Only thing I have to add is that I think the exhaust will exit higher up, possibly similar to the Scuderia.
