Hey everyone, Do you guys know if the early 308s came with any luggage pieces. I have seen some luggage recently offered as a "308GTB luggage" (e-bay), but in my experience, I never saw a pic of early car with luggage pieces. Just wondering - thanks!
Yea, I have it.....4 piece Schedoni. While most likely NOT an option contemporary to our cars in 1976 -1977, it was added for the 328 line and is offered by the Factory now as "308/328" luggage set...you can order it new for around $5K from the Owner's website or it pops up used from time to time. I scored mine 'lost' from the car at a dealership for $2,500..it's pretty cool to have but I rarely use it..LOL!
To be complete it should have canvas overbags for each piece, the locks and key sets and some leather fobs.. How much was the set on eBay? It is very fine luggage and would be a nice feature to show with the car at shows.....it's usually tan but also was sometimes ordered to match the car....I've heard of a 550 that came with BLUE luggage! That sets no longer with the car, and wandering around somewhere....
Hi Big Tex, The e-bay seller is offering only one piece and not four. The look of it is pretty much like most owner manual covers for the early cars. I'm not sure if I should bid on it, if the price is still decent ... sinnce not sure if it makes sense to buy only 1 of 4 pieces. Might be a cool little addition to my GTB ... but not sure if it "adds" anything special to my car. It has no canvas covering or tags, but the piece does look right. Idea?
Luggage was available, along with an attache case, in the late 70's....it is NOT schedoni (sp!). I remember MCM having a few sets. Regards: Flaviaman
It should be two long thin bags that fit the center of the trunk, and the two 'square' pieces are slightly curved to tuck into the outer quarter panels... I don't think I have a pic of the set on this box... My set is made by Schedoni, but as posted it was much later than the 70s...I am sure...
Weren't there also sets in the fabric like the pouch ie not leather - might this be to what Gregg refers too ?
I had the schedoni for my 348... luggage was mint on the outside but the inside of some pieces started flaking really bad.... watch out for that. Its like the inner lining deteriorates & makes a helluva mess! Chris
Hello, just looked into brochure collection and the first picture, which shows the luggage set is in the 308 QV brochure. Best Regards from Germany Martin Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you Martin, very much for that picture!...that's what I have...paid a little over $2K for it at the time.. Finding it, is the hard part in the used market......I know of one other Fchatter that has a set for his car. Don't try to carry chocolates in the trunk, though the muffler gets it rather warm after awhile.. Do you have picture of the piece that matches the Owner's Manual pouch, as an aside all my early car pouches are tan leather as well, but we have had a lot of discussion on this issue....
Like this for instance Its possible the original inspiration for the thread was the rather nice item on Ebay Item number: 250266330963 Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a nice item, never seen one.......Thanks Jimmie! How's the auction going on it??? I'd have to buy a new Owner's Book cover to match, that's how it always goes.......LOL! I'd better not, since my carbs and distributors live in plastic buckets right now, I am dreading that phone call...
do you talk about the cloth manual pouch ? ; just took two shots including the complete content I got, when I purchased the pouch on ebay Germany some years ago for roughly EUR 75,-- ( $ 120,-- ). This is the carb 308 GTB/GTS pouch. But there were further differences. My dad's '76 GT4 had a dark brown leather pouch. Yes that's it, although we have one 1976 308GTB here in US with one of those all the books I have (1977) came in the plain leather one, with an embossed horse.......
Right, Bubba. That's my Pozzi Blue 550. The luggage set, according to the window sticker, was made by Connolly. I didn't bother asking the two previous owners what became of the luggage. I bought a car, not a trousseau. Image Unavailable, Please Login
