89 328GTS foam insulation air hose?

Does anyone know where I could get a Ferrari foam insulation air hose for a 89 328GTS?

 

They are hard to come by. I would suggest calling dealers around the country hoping someone has one in old stock.

A couple of years ago, no one had any in the dealership network. I made my own, and Ricambi has one as an aftermarket replacement. Both are more durable.

I am pretty sure they are no longer available.

That being the case mine met with a roll of black duck tape a year or so back. You either do something like that or investigate the aftermarket alternatives.

No, the foam covered air ducts are peculiar to the 89 cars ( I think earlier cars have different ducts) and they run from the side vents to the air cleaner and the oil cooler. Damn silly things, the foam covering just falls apart.

The one you have there is the one that feeds up to the throttle body.

I dont think they are made anymore and fall to bits any way mine had no foam left in it at all, Plus the one I installed is only about $30-$40 US.......check my link couple of posts back Tone

 

Those hoses haven't been available in years. Get the fiber/woven looking intake hose off a wrecked 348 or 355. It is designed to withstand the heat and is the same diameter. It is "wrinkled" in places to make the bends without kinking so take some measurements to make sure you have the length OK.

I should add that I have not run the engine yet with this hose so I don't know how heat-resistant it is. I think it will be okay but..... Also, I am leaving out the passenger's side fuel tank and the A/C compressor so I don't know if there would be any clearance issues with the tank in place or with the compressor. Doesn't look like it but............

Will do. It will probably be a few more weeks until I'm able to run the engine. I'm finishing a Major + and Electromotive install on it. Hasn't been run for a year now :-( If you don't hear back from me then send a reminder. I'll might be too excited, once I can drive it again, to remember

 

Now I know how to fix at door vent end.....I strugled by hand and fit trunking without being able to clamp it, it has stayed on so far but now it is clear what has to come off for correct fixing etc Thanks for the photo. Tone

I too know it's not available.. about a year ago I called a Ferrari Dealer, looking for the rubber accordian (intake) connection for my '86 328. They had one but of course we bagan talking about the foam hose on the later 328's..
So my question is; can you put an earlier model intake?. and completely get away from the aftermarket stuff & heat resistant issues?

 

If you had enough money and skill, I am sure that you could make the older style work. I do not know for sure, but I do not think it is a direct bolt on replacement.

As far as heat resistance, my snazzy orange hose is rated from -80 to 500 degrees. It will outlast the car.
