I was living on the edge...my car came with 1 key and 1 black key fob. BUT just now going through all the manuals found the PIN certificate tucked away in the pages...yeah! So I *think* now I can program a backup black key fob (and a red too?) just to be safe....

Every set of remotes transmit a different frequency or digital code. The pin code only does 2 things. It either allows use of the car without a remote or it allows reprogramming the reciever to accept a different set of remotes. The reciever will not recognize more than one code or ferquency, once it is instructed to accept a different signal the old signal is no longer valid. Additionally in concert with the pin code only a red remote can teach the reciever a new code. Simply finding more remotes does you no good. You need a complete, matched set.

As said by Brian, your PIN code will only let you use your car if your remote is lost or no more working. It will not allow you to reprogram the ECU for another black or red remote.
If you want other remotes, you can either buy a new complete set ($$$$$$$$) or ... clone the one you have. It works! Do a search "clone black remote" or my name ;-)

    That is a good plan.

Now all we have to do is go around to all the dealers and find the waste baskets full of keys and remotes the salesmen were too lazy to put back in the cars files and we will have a large supply to clone from.

Ain't kidding. Thats where they usually end up.
